A T-top roof assembly for a vehicle includes a roof member defining at least one vehicle-inboard insert edge receiver and at least one removable insert having an insert receiver-engaging edge and an opposed stiffener edge. A latch mechanism is included, adapted to secure the opposed stiffener edge to the roof member. The opposed stiffener edge includes a structural load path-supporting member. The latch mechanism comprises at least one spring-loaded pin, clip, bolt, or rotary latch and a cooperating latch receiver or striker, variously carried by the opposed stiffener edge and the roof member.

The body defines a roof opening having a roof frame arranged around the roof opening with a reinforcing profile around the periphery of the opening. A roof seal is supported by the reinforcing profile and has a highest point higher than immediately adjacent regions of the roof frame on the side of the roof seal facing away from the roof opening. The body has a closed state with the roof releasably fastened to the roof frame in contact with the roof seal over the entire periphery from above and an open state in which the roof is no longer fastened to the roof frame and is displaced from the closed state upwardly and away from the roof seal for replacement of the roof with another.
