INTEGRATED FILL SYSTEM AND METHOD
20210046817 · 2021-02-18 ·

An integrated fill system is provided for a vehicle. The integrated fill system can include a receptacle, a cap that mates with the receptacle, and a fill line that is in fluid communication between the receptacle and a container. The integrated fill system can further include a valve between an opening on an end of the container and an end of the fill line to allow one-way fluid communication for entry of compressed material into the container. The integrated fill system can further include a draw line on an opposite end of the container to maintain separate lines for filling and drawing compressed material into/from the container.

Systems and methods for low power consumption fuel level indication

Methods and systems are provided for determining a fuel level of a fuel tank. In one example, a method may include transiently powering a fuel level sensor responsive to a fuel tank refilling event to obtain a fuel level measurement, maintaining the fuel level sensor unpowered after obtaining the fuel level measurement, and, while maintaining the fuel level sensor unpowered, inferring the fuel level based the obtained fuel tank fuel level measurement and an amount of fuel consumed since the obtained fuel level measurement. In this way, electrical power consumption by the fuel level sensor is reduced while a fuel level indication is provided.

Receptacle cap and vehicle

A cap includes a bottomed first cover portion, and a second cover portion provided on a receiving opening side of the first cover portion. The second cover portion includes an outside cover that covers a contact portion of a receptacle. The contact portion comes into contact with a distal end of a supply nozzle when the supply nozzle is connected with the receptacle. The outside cover has a tapered shape such that an outer diameter of the outside cover is decreased towards the first cover portion from one end of the cap where the receiving opening is provided. The outside cover has an internal dimension that allows the outside cover to be separated from an outer peripheral portion of the receptacle when the cap is attached to the receptacle.

FUEL FILL CONTROL SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ANTICIPATING VEHICLE REFUELING EVENTS
20210078852 · 2021-03-18 ·

This disclosure is directed to vehicle fuel fill control systems for anticipating vehicle refueling events in order to control the timing of fuel tank depressurization sequences. In a first embodiment, a global positioning system (GPS) is utilized to anticipate the vehicle refueling event prior to initializing the depressurization sequence. In another embodiment, a camera system is utilized to anticipate the refueling event prior to initializing the depressurization sequence. In yet another embodiment, both the GPS and the camera system may be utilized to anticipate the refueling event. By anticipating refueling events, customer wait time for gaining refueling access may be reduced.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR CONFORMABLE FUEL TANK

Filling methods and systems are provided for a conformable fuel tank. In one example, a system comprises an active thermal management arrangement for the conformable fuel tank. The active thermal management arrangement comprises one or more recirculation passage for mixing hot fuel distal to an inlet port of the conformable fuel tank with cool incoming fuel flowing to the inlet port.

FUNNEL SYSTEM FOR A GAS TANK
20210039939 · 2021-02-11 ·

A funnel system for a gas tank that can be stored within the gas tank during operation of a machine such as a lawnmower or snow blower. Upon removing the cap of the gas tank in a first embodiment, a funnel is moved toward an open position as the funnel is biased toward the open position. Once fuel is added to the gas tank, a guide member of the cap is utilized to force the funnel toward the closed position and then secured to the gas tank. A second embodiment utilizes a separate guide member, separate from the cap to move the funnel to and from the open position to the closed position.

Methods and systems for compressed natural gas (CNG)

Provided is a compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel system that can include a frame and at least one container. The frame can include a first side and a second side, with each side being configured to partly define a portion of an interior space. The at least one container can be configured to house or contain CNG and can be engaged to and partly encased by the frame. The at least one container can be partly located within the interior space of at least one of the first side or the second side. The frame assembly can be engaged to a chassis of a vehicle such that the at least one container is located either at least partially underneath a cab of the vehicle or at least partially behind a cab of the vehicle.

Fracking sensor probe

This invention is a sensor probe, generally used in the oil fracking business, and includes structurally a pair of tube members, concentrically assembled, an inner housing tube, and an outer spout tube, affixed to a cap and adaptor, with the inner housing holding one or more sensors, to detect the level of fuel within the fuel tank of the fracking truck. The adaptor has a first aperture for attachment of the fuel line, for delivery of fuel in the space between the tube members, and the adaptor has a second aperture for connection of an electrical receptacle, for attachment with the electric lines leading from the various sensors, to the adaptor, for connection with a circuit line from a remote monitor.

Fill limit venting valve with high shut-off height
11059368 · 2021-07-13 ·

A fill limit vent valve for a fuel system includes a housing assembly, an outlet port and a flow dam. The housing assembly has a main housing including a cylindrical body and an upper housing portion. The upper housing portion has a lower wall that defines an orifice and an outer cylindrical wall that defines an upper housing chamber. The outlet port is formed on the main housing and fluidly communicates fuel vapor out of the fill limit valve. The orifice is offset from a centerpoint of the lower wall in a direction away from the outlet port. The flow dam extends from the lower wall into the upper housing chamber and connects on opposite ends to the outer cylindrical wall. The flow dam and upper housing chamber cooperating to form a liquid trap that mitigates the possibility of liquid fuel from reaching the outlet port from the orifice.
