EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS FUEL TANK VENTING SYSTEM WITH DRAIN PUMP

A vent shut-off assembly configured to manage venting on a fuel tank configured to deliver fuel to an internal combustion engine includes a first liquid vapor discriminator (LVD), a main housing, a poppet valve assembly, a pump and an actuator assembly. The first LVD is disposed in the fuel tank. The main housing selectively vents to a carbon canister. The poppet valve assembly has a poppet valve arranged in the main housing. The pump selectively pumps liquid fuel from the main housing. The actuator assembly is at least partially housed in the main housing and includes a cam assembly having a cam shaft that includes a first cam and a second cam. The first cam has a profile that one of opens and closes a poppet valve fluidly coupled to the first LVD. The second cam has a profile that actuates the pump.

A valve device has a valve housing, a valve member, a guide member and a valve control unit. A center axis of a vapor outlet pipe is defined as a passage axis of a vapor outlet passage. A cross section of the vapor outlet pipe on a plane perpendicular to an axial direction of the vapor outlet pipe is defined as an outlet-pipe cross section. An area of the outlet-pipe cross section is defined as an outlet passage area. An overlapping area, in which the outlet-pipe cross section overlaps with an outlet-nearest wall portion, is formed when viewed them in the axial direction of the vapor outlet pipe and when the outlet-pipe cross section is projected on the outlet-nearest wall portion. The valve housing and the guide member are so formed that the overlapping area is smaller than a half of the outlet passage area.

Fuel supply apparatus

A housing has an inner passage to communicate with both a fuel passage, which is to conduct fuel from a fuel pump, and a return passage, which is to return fuel a fuel tank. A valve body is movable in the housing to change a minimum flow passage cross-sectional area of the inner passage. A spring is connected to the valve body and changes its biasing load in correspondence with a fuel temperature to move the valve body. The spring moves the valve body such that the minimum flow passage cross-sectional area, when the fuel temperature is equal to or higher than a predetermined vapor generation temperature, is larger than the minimum flow passage cross-sectional area when the fuel temperature is lower than the vapor generation temperature.

An in-tank fuel pump assembly and mounting system is disclosed which may be configured for mounting inside a fuel tank. The assembly includes a pump housing, pump mounted to the housing, and pressure relief valve. The housing may comprise upper and lower pump housing units coupled together. The upper housing unit is configured for mounting to a tank opening, which in one implementation may be the fuel fill opening. The lower housing unit extends into the tank to approximately the bottom of the tank. A fuel fill fluid pathway is created through the housing for adding fuel to the tank while the pump assembly remains in situ. The upper housing unit may include a removable fuel cap. The pump housing may include an integral vapor trap.

Systems and methods for reducing vehicle valve degradation

Methods and systems are provided for reducing degradation and issues related to noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) for a fuel tank pressure control valve configured to seal a fuel tank from atmosphere. In one example, a method may include depressurizing the fuel tank of a vehicle by duty cycling a tank pressure control valve and routing fuel vapors from the fuel tank to an engine, while controlling a timing of opening and closing events of the tank pressure control valve to coincide with pressure differences across the tank pressure control valve less than a threshold pressure difference in terms of pressure oscillations across the tank pressure control valve. In this way, higher loads and stress on the tank pressure control valve may be avoided, thus reducing degradation and NVH issues.

Fuel supply device and method for producing same

In a fuel tank, a pressure regulator is placed at an outside of a sub-tank and regulates a pressure of fuel of a pressure-regulation path, which is discharged from a fuel pump and is fed toward an outside of the fuel tank. A fuel recovery passage portion recovers excess fuel, which becomes excess at the pressure-regulation path, to the sub-tank. The sub-tank has an opening at a location that is higher than the suction filter. The fuel recovery passage portion is inserted from the outside of the sub-tank into the inside of the sub-tank through the opening while a gap is formed between the fuel recovery passage portion and the opening, so that the fuel recovery passage portion has an excess fuel outlet that discharges the excess fuel at a location that is on an inner side of the opening where an inside of the sub-tank is placed.

When a fuel tank inclines, a valve body device for the fuel tank restricts the flow of fuel to the exterior of the fuel tank, thereby preventing environmental pollution and improving fuel consumption. A rise/fall member and a valve body are lowered by an urge force less than a combined weight of the valve body and the rise/fall member, thereby creating an opening in a valve portion. A coil spring expands and the valve body contacts convex portions on a first inner surface of a cylinder main body. After a pressure reduction at a communication port of a resistance member, the fuel flows from a small-diameter space of a blow-up member, so that the flowing fuel pushes up the valve body and the rise/fall member closes the valve portion together with the urge force of the coil spring.

VALVE SYSTEM FOR A FUEL TANK

A valve system includes a housing with a tank connection for connecting to a fuel tank, a filter connection for connecting to an activated carbon filter, and a filling tube connection for connecting to a filling tube of the fuel tank. Both the tank connection and the filter connection and/or the filling tube connection can be in form of a connecting piece, connected directly or indirectly to the fuel tank through a connecting line leading to the fuel tank, the activated carbon filter or the filling tube. The tank connection/filter connection or the tank connection/filling tube connection can be fluidically connected to one another through a main vent duct. The tank connection or a tank-side main vent duct, and the filter connection or a filter-side main vent duct, can be fluidically connected by means of a secondary vent duct.

A filler cap for a fuel tank is disclosed and is configured to prevent environmental pollution and improve fuel consumption without discharging fuel or harmful gas to an exterior of the fuel tank. A rise/fall member and a valve body are lowered by an urge force that is less than a total weight of the valve body and the rise/fall member, thereby opening a valve portion. When the fuel tank inclines, a coil spring expands and the valve body contacts with convex portions on an inner surface of a cylinder main body. After a pressure reduces at a communication port of a resistance member, the fuel flows from a small diameter space of a blow-up member.
