PROPULSION BATTERY PACKS WITH INTEGRATED FUEL TANK MOUNTING SYSTEMS
Presented are battery assemblies with integrated fuel tanks, methods for making/using such battery assemblies, and fuel cell electric vehicles having rechargeable traction battery packs with integrated fiber-composite hydrogen fuel tanks. A rechargeable energy storage system (RESS) assembly includes a battery pack housing with an internal battery module compartment located between two tank mounting cavities. Each mounting cavity is recessed into a respective lateral side of the battery pack housing. Multiple rechargeable battery modules are electrically interconnected with one another and mounted inside the battery module compartment. Each battery module contains multiple battery cells, such as a stack of series-connected lithium-ion pouch cells. A fuel tank is mounted in each of the tank mounting cavities on the lateral sides of the battery pack housing. Each fuel tank, which may be fabricated from a carbon fiber reinforced polymer, stores and selectively dispenses a fuel, such as a hydrogen-rich, compressed gas fuel.
COMPOSITE CYLINDER MONITORING SYSTEM
Methods, systems, and apparatus for monitoring a cylinder. The system includes a plurality of sensors connected to the cylinder and configured to detect deformation data associated with the cylinder. The system includes a controller communicatively coupled to the plurality of sensors. The controller is configured to determine a damage value based on the detected deformation data when the cylinder endures impact damage. The controller is configured to communicate a notification when the damage value exceeds an impact damage threshold. The system includes a filling controller communicatively coupled to the plurality of sensors. The filling controller is configured to control a valve for filling the cylinder with a fluid. The filling controller is configured to detect damage to the cylinder above a specified threshold as the cylinder is filled with the fluid. The filling controller is configured to automatically perform a safety action when the damage to the cylinder is detected.
Method For Monitoring And Alarming Hydrogen Leakage Of Fuel-Cell Vehicle And System Thereof
The present disclosure relates to a method for monitoring and alarming hydrogen leakage of a fuel-cell vehicle and a system thereof. The method comprises the steps of: acquiring the current hydrogen concentration of a fuel-cell vehicle; judging whether the current hydrogen concentration is 0, if not, acquiring the measured hydrogen concentration, the hydrogen pressure drop value and the normal pressure range generated when the current hydrogen concentration of the fuel-cell vehicle is 0; judging whether the hydrogen pressure drop value exceeds the normal pressure range, if so, determining the predicted hydrogen concentration according to the measured hydrogen concentration and the hydrogen pressure drop value; judging whether the predicted hydrogen concentration exceeds the hydrogen leakage alarm threshold, and if not, determining the hydrogen leakage and issuing an alarm. The hydrogen concentration alarm limit can be reached in advance, thereby shortening the time for monitoring and alarming hydrogen leakage.
HIGH PRESSURE CONTAINER
There is provided a high pressure container including a plurality of container bodies, each of the container bodies housing a fluid in a huh pressure state and being able to release the fluid through a release portion, (ii) opening section that is linked to the container bodies, and that opens at or above a predetermined opening temperature to release the fluid inside the container bodies, and (iii) a cover member that straddles the plurality of container bodies, that covers at least a portion of the plurality of container bodies, that is able to withstand a temperature of no less than the opening temperature, that is linked to the opening section, and that is capable of transmitting heat to the opening section.
VEHICLE
The invention relates to a vehicle comprising a chassis having an upper frame plate and a lower frame plate. Between the upper frame plate and the lower frame plate there is provided a traction battery pack arrangement comprising one or more battery modules, and a hydrogen tank structure comprising one or more hydrogen tanks. The hydrogen tank structure is vertically tightened to the traction battery pack arrangement, so that one of the hydrogen tank structure and said traction battery pack arrangement is located on top of the other. At least one of the hydrogen tank structure and the traction battery pack arrangement is tightened to one of the upper and lower frame plates.
Open cabin vehicle
An open cabin vehicle is equipped with a fuel cell unit having a hydrogen tank for storing hydrogen to be used as fuel and has a simple structure. An upper end of each of a hydrogen tank, a fuel cell stack, and a hydrogen supply pipe is located farther upward than a floor in a state in which the hydrogen tank, the fuel cell stack, and the hydrogen supply pipe are disposed in a fuel-cell-unit arrangement space which is provided below a space being present farther backward than at least a part of the floor in a vehicle-body inner space, and which borders the vehicle-body inner space, thereby being connected to a vehicle-body outer space which is a space around the open cabin vehicle, via the vehicle-body inner space.
