Reduced-impact-and-recoil headrest
11117503 · 2021-09-14 · ·

A reduced-impact-and-recoil headrest that includes a ratchet mechanism, allowing components to incrementally translate with respect to each other. The reduced-impact-and-recoil headrest includes an exterior housing surface that is deformable, providing cushioning for a vehicle occupant's head. The headrest also includes an interior compartment within the housing, with the ratchet mechanism disposed within the interior compartment. The headrest is configured to decrease the force of a collision experienced by the occupant, thereby decreasing the likelihood and severity of traumatic brain injuries resulting from the occupant's head striking a stationary headrest. Instead, the reduced-impact-and-recoil headrest is configured to incrementally move with the occupant's head, providing an incremental cushion for the occupant's head. The ratchet mechanism also prevents the reduced-impact-and-recoil headrest from automatically translating back to its pre-impact position, thereby decreasing the occupant's risk of ligament tear and whiplash.

A head restraint of a vehicle seat includes a base element, at least one connection element positioned on the base element for connecting the base element to a backrest of a vehicle seat, a bearing element having a contact surface for contacting a head of a user of the vehicle seat, and a holding element which can be adjusted along a depth axis relative to the base element. The depth axis is oriented perpendicular to the contact surface. The bearing element is connected to the holding element by a damping device, wherein the damping device damps a movement of the bearing element relative to the holding element.

Described are passenger seat headrest assemblies and seats including head-rest assemblies having a semi-rigid flap fixedly connected with an upper portion of the seat back or headrest assembly at a first location and movably connected with the seat back or headrest assembly at a receiving element separated from the first location. The distance of the movable connection from the first location can be adjusted to cause the flexible head-rest assembly to flex outward from the seat to provide a greater or lesser degree of support for a passenger.

HEIGHT-ADJUSTABLE AND LONGITUDINALLY ADJUSTABLE HEADREST

A height-adjustable headrest may have a base support element and a supporting element. The supporting element may be arranged in the base support element. The supporting element may be guidable in a longitudinally displaceable manner in an X direction. In order to form a guide, the basic supporting element may have a number of openings and the supporting element may have a number of guide parts. A shape of the number of openings may correspond to a shape of the number of guide parts.

Headrest device and vehicle seat comprising such a headrest device

A headrest device comprises: a headrest support that is pivotable relative to a backrest frame of a vehicle seat, about a first transverse axis; a headrest frame that is pivotable relative to the headrest support about a second transverse axis; and a tilt compensation device for the headrest frame. The compensation device comprises a connecting element in two parts that are pivotable relative to one another, and first and second pivotable guide pins respectively received in a first guide path in the headrest support and in a second guide path formed by the headrest frame. The second part of the connecting element is guided in translation relative to the headrest support in a direction perpendicular to the first axis.
