A vehicle includes a steering wheel that can move between a driving position in which an occupant operates the steering wheel and a table position in which a wheel axis is oriented in a vehicle vertical direction. The steering wheel in the table position functions as a table or a part of a table for use by the occupant, who is sitting in a driver's seat.

A portable workstation assembly for supporting a laptop computer in a vehicle includes a member is extended through a steering wheel in a vehicle having the member abutting a steering column in the vehicle. The member rests on an outer ring of the steering wheel when the member is extended through the steering wheel. A panel is coupled to the member such that the panel is oriented on a plane that is angled downwardly with respect to a horizontal plane when the member is extended through the steering wheel. In this way the panel is positioned to support a laptop computer or the like at an ergonomically efficient position for a driver of the vehicle.

A steering assembly for a vehicle is provided. The steering assembly comprises a steering wheel and a steering wheel support, the steering wheel being movable relative to the steering wheel support from a driving orientation, in which orientation the vehicle is intended to be driven, and a work surface orientation in which the plane of a front surface of the steering wheel is more closely aligned with a longitudinal axis of the vehicle.

A tray assembly adapted for mounting on the top portion of a steering wheel comprising a foldable, backboard having one or more rigid panels wherein the sole or top-most panel of said backboard incorporates a steering wheel attachment, one or more rigid shelf panels, said steering wheel attachment is made of an elastic material connected to the top portion said backboard to form a securement pouch that slides on or over and fully conforms to the shape of said steering wheel. An alternative tray assembly embodiment comprising three rigid panels wherein an upper level panel closest to the 12 o'clock position of the steering wheel is connected at its lower edge to the top edge of a substantially vertical panel, said vertical panel connected at its lower edge to the top edge of a lower level panel closest to the 6 o'clock position of said steering wheel.

A table assembly for a vehicle includes a first mounting bracket attachable on a first fixed vehicle component and a table body. The table body has a plurality of rigid segments joined together by a corresponding plurality of flexible joints. A first one of the flexible joints extends in a first direction and at least another of the flexible joints extends in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. The table body is configured to be removably coupled with the first mounting bracket such that the first mounting bracket supports the table body in a generally horizontal position with the table body in a first configuration folded along the first flexible joint such that the at least another of the flexible joints is positioned to extend along one of the plurality of rigid segments.

A computer support assembly that is steering wheel mountable includes a frame that is disposable upon a wheel of a steering wheel. Opposing side edges of the frame are configured to abut opposing sides of the wheel. A pair of hooks is coupled to and extends transversely from an upper edge of the frame. The hooks are configured to reversibly couple to a top of the wheel. A tray is hingedly coupled to a lower edge of the frame. The hooks are positioned on the frame such that the frame is couplable to the wheel. The opposing side edges of the frame abut the opposing sides of the wheel to stabilize the frame. The tray is hingedly coupled to the frame such that the tray is positionable transverse from the frame for use. The tray also is positionable substantially parallel to the frame for storage.

A system for a two-shelf, single-assembly tray that is mountable to a circular steering wheel with an inner diameter portion above a vehicle's floorboard at an angle, wherein the angle between the vehicle's floorboard and a plane formed by a circle of the steering wheel is less than 60, the system comprising a structure having a first side, a second side, and an outer periphery. The structure of this tray further comprises two folds defining three main facets and is constrained within the steering wheel by a plurality of constraining elements. The first constraining element is a type of simple support by the steering wheel on one side of a tongue. The second constraining element is an adjustable strap wrapped around the steering wheel, where the strap incorporates a strip of rigid backing board with a length that is 40-80% of the length of the strap.

A tray table includes a deformable body and a pivot portion. The deformable body includes a first edge and a second edge. A substantially planar surface extends from the first edge to the second edge in a first condition of the tray table. The body defines a first length from the first edge to the second edge in the first condition of the table. The body defines a second length of the tray table, shorter than the first length, in a second condition of the tray table upon exposure of the second edge to a force. The pivot portion adjacent the first edge of the body is configured to pivotally attach the body to a steering wheel.

A vehicle comprises a steering wheel assembly having a steering wheel, a console having a housing with a wall configured with a tray storage region, and a tray configured to be stored in the tray storage region in the console in the stowed position, where the tray is configured to be operatively coupled to the steering wheel in a deployed position.
