Provided is a beam-steering mechanism, comprising a lens and a light source positioned in a focal plane of the lens. One of the light source and the lens moves relative to the other of the light source and the lens. The light source outputs a light beam at the lens which forms an illumination spot on a surface from the light beam. The illumination spot moves in a direction in response to a movement of one of the light source and the lens.

Method and apparatus for vehicular light fixtures

A terrain viewing apparatus is provided to enable greater viewability of environmental conditions around a vehicle. A housing of the terrain viewing apparatus may include a lighting apparatus for emitting light and illuminating environmental conditions during nighttime, dusk, or adverse weather conditions. The housing may further include a reflecting apparatus to increase an operator's ability to view environmental conditions outside the vehicle. One or more joints may enable the housing to be adjustable with respect to the vehicle. An internal joint may enable the reflecting apparatus to be adjustable with respect to the housing. The lighting apparatus may receive power from the vehicle. The lighting and reflecting apparatuses may be electrically coupled to the vehicle and may be controllable therefrom.

Self-Adapting Emergency Vehicle Lighting System

A light system a base that is configured to connect to a vehicle; a light layer that is movable into the base in a closed configuration and out of the base in an open configuration; and a cap located above the base and the light layer, the cap enclosing the light layer within the base when the light system is in the closed configuration.

Driver monitor camera to control lighting features

A disclosed light activation system includes a movable lighting element movable to adjust a direction of light, an actuator for moving the movable lighting element, a driver detection device and a controller configured to command operation of the actuator for moving the movable lighting element based on a detected direction of sight of the driver. A disclosed method of operating a vehicle lighting system includes monitoring a direction that a driver of a motor vehicle is looking, determining a lighting element within a region corresponding with the direction the driver is looking, and actuating a lighting element within the region based in response to the determined direction that the driver is looking and in response to a secondary condition being fulfilled.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SEARCH AND RESCUE LIGHT CONTROL FOR A ROTORCRAFT

Provided are systems and methods for controlling a search and rescue (SAR) light on a rotorcraft. The system includes a processor programmed to: for each cartesian input point in a sequence defining a cartesian pattern, determine an initial light head orientation as a function of the real-time rotorcraft state; generate and transmit a pan command and a tilt command as a function of the initial light head orientation and the cartesian input point; and identify a delta-range. A pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera is configured to continuously slave and have a field of view centered on a beam axis of the SAR light. The PTZ camera captures a video stream and transmits it; zooms in on the field of view of the PTZ camera when the delta-range is positive; and zooms out on the field of view of the PTZ camera when the delta-range is negative.
