A modular light assembly is included which has a frame and at least one optical element secured to the frame. Electrical cabling couples the optical element to a power source. The frame is insertable into the channel in the structural member and supported within the channel. The frame has at least one opening over which the optical element is positioned when the modular light assembly is inserted into the channel. This allows the optical element to provide illumination to an area adjacent the vehicle when the optical element is powered on.

A lighting system of a vehicle is provided herein. The lighting system includes a photoluminescent structure coupled to an exterior of the vehicle. A running board is coupled to the vehicle and includes a housing having opposing first and second edges. A light source is located inside the housing and is disposed in greater proximity to the second edge than the first edge. A light guide is configured to direct light from the light source toward the first edge. A first optic is adjacent the first edge and is configured to direct light toward the photoluminescent structure. A second optic is adjacent the first edge and is configured to direct light toward a ground surface.

An illuminated running board for a vehicle includes a light guide plate, a panel, and a luminous module. A plurality of convex portions is formed on a top surface of the light guide plate, and a plurality of optic pattern portions is formed on a bottom surface of the light guide plate. A groove is formed in the bottom surface of the light guide plate and spaced from the optic pattern portions. The panel mounted on the top surface of the light guide plate has a plurality of through-holes, each of which is penetrated by one of the convex portions. The luminous module installed in the groove includes a plurality of luminous elements which are not opposite to the convex portions. Light rays from the luminous elements are conducted into the light guide plate, reflected to the optic pattern portions, and projected upward from the convex portions.

Light assembly with conforming seal

A light assembly is provided that includes a housing, a light pipe assembly, and a conforming seal. The housing has a cavity extending through the housing between first and second ends of the housing. The housing holds a light source that is configured to emit light within the cavity. The light pipe assembly has an attachment end disposed at the first end of the housing. The light emitted by the light source is received by the light pipe assembly at the attachment end and is transmitted through the light pipe assembly. The conforming seal has a tubular shape that at least partially surrounds the housing and the light pipe assembly. A first segment of the conforming seal extends along the light pipe assembly and conforms to the light pipe assembly. A second segment of the conforming seal extends along the housing and conforms to the housing.
