09786178 · 2017-10-10 · ·

The systems and methods are directed to a vehicle control system for use with: a vehicle communications network, at least one source of pedestrian data relevant to at least one pedestrian's location, and at least one source of vehicle system data relevant to the vehicle's location and movement. The control system can include a processor that is configured to determine a vehicle's current location and speed based on the vehicle system data, build a predetermined number of vehicle polygons hardcoded into an application for representing a predicted path of the vehicle, build at least one pedestrian polygon representing a predicted path for at least one pedestrian detected in pedestrian data, and define a plurality of warning zones based on the vehicle polygons, and determine if one or more of the pedestrian polygons intersects at least one of the predetermined number of hardcoded vehicle polygons.

Front vehicle stopping indicator

A system for signaling road hazards and emergency actions to nearby road users comprising a vehicle, the vehicle having at least three wheels, a vehicle control circuitry, one or more sensors, and a vehicle system controller. The vehicle control circuitry monitors data from the one or more sensors, detects hazardous situations, and controls the vehicle system controller to control the vehicle, induce a dynamic vehicle behavior, and visually signal the vehicle is performing an emergency maneuver.

METHOD FOR WARNING ROAD USERS BY MEANS OF SURROUNDINGS MONITORING FOR A RUNNING VEHICLE, AND APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING THE METHOD
20220048431 · 2022-02-17 ·

A method for warning road users by means of surroundings monitoring for a running vehicle is disclosed and furthermore situation detection for the road users in the surroundings of the running vehicle and ascertainment of the probable paths of movement of the running vehicle and the other road users, furthermore ascertainment of an impending hazard situation and, if an impending hazard situation is ascertained, audible warning in and around the running vehicle. Furthermore, an apparatus for performing the method for warning road users is disclosed, wherein the running vehicle is in the form of a land vehicle and the other road users can move in a ground-based manner.

Vehicle-mounted apparatus

An apparatus mountable on a vehicle includes a movable device, a sensor, and a drive controller. The movable device is mountable on the vehicle so that a person around the vehicle sees the movable device. The movable device has at least one light emitter and is capable of rotating around an imaginary line extending in a height direction of the vehicle. The sensor detects a positional relationship between the vehicle and the person. The drive controller rotates the movable device toward the person based on the positional relationship detected by the sensor. The number of the light emitters shining steadily is increased after the drive controller rotates the movable device toward the person.

Urgent vehicle warning indicator using vehicle illumination

Exemplary methods, vehicles, and systems are disclosed. An exemplary method may include establishing at least one visible signal configured to provide a signal during a normal state of a vehicle, detecting an alarm state of the vehicle, and initiating a visible nuisance via the at least one visible signal in response to at least the detected alarm state. An exemplary vehicle may include at least one lighting device configured to provide a signal during a normal state of a vehicle, and a processor configured to detect an alarm state of the vehicle and initiate a visible nuisance via the at least one visible signal in response to at least the detected alarm state.

Object detection-based directional control of light and sound

A system and method perform object detection-based directional control of light transmission or sound transmission from a moving platform. The method includes receiving information about one or more objects that are proximate to the platform, and processing the information to obtain processed information, the processed information including a location of each of the one or more objects. Determining an importance and urgency among the one or more objects with regard to the light transmission or the sound transmission is based on the processed information. Controlling a light source or a sound source of the platform to respectively perform the light transmission or the sound transmission is based on the importance and the urgency.

Advanced warning and risk evasion system and method

This invention relates in general to the field of safety devices, and more particularly, but not by way of limitation, to systems and methods for providing advanced warning and risk evasion when hazardous conditions exist. In one embodiment, a vicinity monitoring unit is provided for monitoring, for example, oncoming traffic near a construction zone. In some embodiments, the vicinity monitoring unit may be mounted onto a construction vehicle to monitor nearby traffic and send a warning signal if hazardous conditions exist. In some embodiments, personnel tracking units may be worn by construction workers and the personnel tracking units may be in communication with the vicinity monitoring unit. In some embodiments, a base station is provided for monitoring activities taking place in or near a construction site including monitoring the locations of various personnel and vehicles within the construction site.
