Mirror extension arm for a wide-load truck
12030434 · 2024-07-09 ·

A mirror extension arm for a wide-load truck is an apparatus that allows a driver of the wide-load truck to have a wider peripheral vision range and eliminates blind spots. The apparatus includes an extension tube, a slide bar, a mounting spindle, at least one locking clamp, and a fastening mechanism. The extension bar and the slide bar offset a secondary side mirror from a corresponding side of the wide-load truck. The secondary side mirror is preferably positioned beside an existing side mirror. The extension bar connects with a bracket of the existing side mirror, and the slide bar varies the distance of the secondary side mirror and existing side mirror. The mounting spindle upholds the secondary side mirror. The at least one locking clamp attaches the extension bar with the bracket of the existing side mirror. The fastening mechanism locks the slide bar along the extension tube.

System and method for enhancing driver situational awareness in a transportation vehicle

A method for enhancing situational awareness in a transportation vehicle includes locating at least one camera on the vehicle. Upon activation of a vehicle brake, the camera is automatically paired with a computing device located inside the vehicle.

An electronics module is attachable to an exterior mirror of a vehicle and supports a camera and/or a display. The electronics module may be an add-on device that is retrofittable to the exterior mirror. The display may be arranged to display an indication of a distance between a back of the vehicle and an object.

Intuitive work vehicle vision system for enhanced operator visibility

A work vehicle has display devices and cameras coupled to display feeds at display areas. The cameras include a first set on the first side, second side, and central location relative to the first FOV and a second set on a first side, second side, and central location relative to the second FOV. A control system is configured to: in a first mode, display a first set of feeds from the first side, second side, and central location of the display areas so that the feeds are arranged at the first side, second side, and central location relative to the first FOV; and in a second mode, display a second set of feeds from the first side, second side, and central location of the second set at display areas so that the feeds are arranged at the first side, second side, and central location relative to the second FOV.

BALL-AND-SOCKET JOINT MODULE FOR MIRROR HEAD
20180172065 · 2018-06-21 · ·

A ball-and-socket joint module (26) affixed to a mirror head (14) provides for adjusting a position of a mirror (16). The module includes a multicomponent ball assembly (86) that has an internally mounted spring (82). The spring presses two components (34, 72) of the ball assembly away from each other so that opposing surfaces (32, 70) of the ball assembly confront corresponding surfaces (62, 64) of a multicomponent socket assembly (90) when the ball assembly is nested within the socket assembly.

Socket joint with integrated tube anchors

A socket joint for carrying a mirror head or indirect vision system on a support tube to be mounted to a vehicle and a mirror or indirect vision arrangement comprising such socket joint and a mirror head or indirect vision system is provided. The socket joint comprises a support tube with at least one opening to be attached to a vehicle, a joint base contacting the support tube, at least one anchor extending through said at least one opening in said support tube, and at least one fastener engaging the at least one anchor and extending through a fastening hole in the joint base into the anchor. By the engagement of the fastener in or with the anchor, the portion of the anchor located within the support tube engages an interior surface of said support tube and said support tube is clamped between anchor and joint base.

Mirror assembly and adjustment mechanism thereof

A mirror assembly includes an adjustable support system for supporting a mirror. The adjustable support system includes a first peripheral support element and a second peripheral support element, each having an adjustable height, and optionally a third, central support element having a fixed height. Each of the first and second peripheral support elements is coupled with a respective linear actuator for adjusting their respective heights, thereby adjusting and/or rotating the mirror. In some embodiments, additional peripheral elements are included at opposite sides of each of the first and second peripheral support elements to provide additional balance and/or dampening when the mirror is adjusted.

VEHICLE MIRROR LOCKING AND RELEASE ASSEMBLY
20240409029 · 2024-12-12 ·

An external vehicle rear view mirror assembly has a mirror (12), a mirror plate (14), and a mirror retention plate (16). The mirror plate has an attachment arrangement which can releasably engage the mirror plate to the mirror retention plate. The attachment arrangement has a locking assembly for engaging the mirror retention plate so that the mirror plate, when in the engaged position, can assume a locked position with respect to the mirror retention plate. The locking assembly has locking pins (24, 26) which are movable between a locking position and an unlocking position. Each locking pin has a leading free end (28) and an opposite head end (30). The head end has pin locking surfaces (32, 33a, 33b) which are engageable with a respective plate locking surface (34) of the mirror plate by operation of a respective spring loaded clip-on mechanism (36). Each locking pin is in the locking position when the leading free ends engage the mirror retention plate and lockably retain the mirror plate in the locked position. Each locking pin is in the unlocking position when the leading free ends are disengaged from the mirror retention plate after releasing the spring loaded clip-on mechanism.
