A vehicle side airbag device including: a side airbag that is accommodated in a folded-up state within a side portion, which is at a vehicle transverse direction outer side at a seatback of a vehicle seat, and, at a time of a side collision, the side airbag inflating and expanding between an upper body of a vehicle occupant and a vehicle side portion, and a vehicle transverse direction inner side surface of the side airbag, which faces the vehicle occupant, sinking in toward a vehicle transverse direction outer side; and a cloth body that is disposed at a vehicle occupant side with respect to the inflated and expanded side airbag, and that spans between front and rear both end portions of the side airbag and is stretched between the front and rear both end portions, a gap being formed between the side airbag and the cloth body.
SIDE AIRBAG APPARATUS
Objective: To provide a side airbag apparatus that can protect a head portion and chest portion by an appropriate restraining force, while favorably inflating and expanding even a cushion that protects a head portion and chest portion with a small inflator, and that can ensure high OOP performance.
Resolution Means: A configuration of a side airbag apparatus 100 according to the present invention includes: a bag-like cushion 110; an inflator 150; a first demarcating part 130a that demarcates the cushion 110 into a first chamber 132 on a vehicle rearward side and a second chamber 134 on a vehicle forward side, a second demarcating part 130b that demarcates a third chamber 136 on an upper side of the first chamber 132 and second chamber 134 of the cushion 110, a first inner vent 142 disposed above the first demarcating part 130, and a second inner vent 144 disposed above the second demarcating part 130b, which flows a gas flowing into the second chamber into the third chamber, and which is provided with a check valve structure that prevents a reverse flow of the gas.
Airbag device for front passenger seat and airbag folding method
An airbag device for a passenger seat having an inflator and an airbag, wherein: the airbag includes a first structural portion that structures a left-right direction intermediate portion of the airbag and at which is formed a first surface, and second structural portions that are formed in continuation with both left and right sides of the first structural portion and at which are formed a pair of respective second surfaces that is to bulge further toward the front passenger seat side than the first surface and move apart from one another, and a connecting cloth, which connects regions that become bulging end portion sides of the pair of second surfaces in an inflated and deployed state of the airbag, and which is deployed to cover a range that is reached by the head portion and the chest portion of the passenger in the front passenger seat, is provided.
Semi-rigid deployable shoulder and pelvis restraint system
The present disclosure is directed to passenger restraint system, deployable upon detection of an imminent side impact vehicle collision. The restraint system contains both an inner inflatable portion and an outer rigid telescopic portion, resulting in a semi-rigid restraint system. The restraint system may be mounted to the outboard and/or inboard sides of a vehicle seat, to protect the passenger from forces from an intruding door structure (or vehicle structure) or from other passengers. Mounting the restraint system to the vehicle seat may limit the force load that is transferred from the vehicle to the occupant, compared to a restraint system mounted to the vehicle interior.
OCCUPANT PROTECTION DEVICE
An occupant protection device which is configured to protect an occupant seated on a seat, includes a seat belt, an airbag, and an inflator configured to supply inflation gas to the airbag. The airbag has a bag shape formed of a flexible sheet body, the airbag is folded and stored in a storage part provided in a lap belt, the airbag is inflated so as to project toward a front upper side when the inflation gas flows into the airbag, and the airbag has a substantially triangular prism shape whose axial direction is substantially aligned with a left-right direction so as to include a leg abutting surface which is capable of abutting an upper surface of a leg of the occupant and an upper body restraining surface which is capable of restraining the occupant from a chest to a head, when the airbag is completely inflated.
Variable control apparatus for airbag of vehicle
A variable control apparatus for an airbag of a vehicle includes: a plurality of tethers each of which having one side coupled to a front sheath among a plurality of sheaths of an airbag cushion, each of the plurality of tethers formed to have a length shorter than a distance between the front sheath and a rear sheath when the airbag cushion is fully deployed; a release mechanism provided at a rear sheath side of the airbag cushion, connected to the respective other sides of the plurality of tethers, and selectively releasing a tether among the plurality of tethers upon an operation of the release mechanism; and a controller configured to variably control a deployment shape of the airbag cushion by operating the release mechanism based on a collision direction of the vehicle, a seat state of a seat of the vehicle, or a sitting posture of a passenger in the vehicle.
Overhead inflatable airbag assembly
An overhead mountable inflatable airbag assembly for a vehicle is disclosed. Inflatable airbag assemblies may provide protection for an occupant in a vehicle collision event. The disclosed airbag assembly may form a sideways V shape to be supported at the roof by an inflator, housing, or other mounting method, and at or near a lower (distal) end against a portion of an instrument panel or a rear portion of a forward occupant seat. The supported sideways V shape may support the occupant during ride down to provide protection of the occupant. The supported sideways V shape may also reduce the volume of inflation gas required to properly inflate the airbag assembly, and may reduce the overall packaged volume of the airbag assembly.
Arm rest
An arm rest attachable to a seat for a vehicle occupant to sit on includes a pair of side members, a pair of front members, and an airbag. The side members are at left and right sides of the vehicle occupant, extend in a front-rear direction, and are coupled to the seat. The front members are in front of the vehicle occupant and extend inward in a width direction of the seat from the side members. The airbag deploys toward the vehicle occupant from at least one of the pair of side members or the pair of front members. The airbag includes a lateral abutment unit that abuts on the side members and a front abutment unit that abuts on the front members. The airbag has a substantially-triangular cross section taken in a substantially horizontal direction, the cross section including the lateral abutment unit and the front abutment unit.
VEHICLE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT DEVICE AND METHOD FOR OPERATING A VEHICLE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT DEVICE
A vehicle occupant restraint device comprises a control unit and a group of at least two matched airbags (20, 24; 22, 26) for the protection of a vehicle occupant (10; 16) on a particular vehicle seat (12; 16). The control unit is arranged and the airbags (20, 24; 22, 26) are disposed and designed so that, in a collision case, the control unit differentiates between a first situation in which the vehicle occupant (10; 16) is located in a standard distance area relative to a first airbag (20; 22) and a second situation in which the vehicle occupant (10; 16) is located in a rear area which is further distant from the first airbag (20; 22) than the standard distance area. When the first situation is given, the control unit activates the first airbag (20; 22) only. In contrast, when the second situation is given, the control unit activates the first airbag (20; 22) and additionally at least a second airbag (24; 26) of the group, with the first airbag (20; 22) backing the second airbag (24; 26).
SEATING SYSTEM FOR VEHICLES
A seating system is provided which comprises a seat movable between a standard seating position, in which the seat faces frontwards and the seat backrest is in an upright position for conventional driving mode, and at least one non-standard seating position in which the seat is rotated around a vertical axis with respect to the standard seating position and the backrest is reclined rearwards by rotation around a first transverse horizontal axis from the standard seating position. The seat is equipped with at least one passive safety device switchable between a working or active state, in which the device is able to protect an occupant of the seat in case of an impact of the vehicle, and a non-working or inactive state.
