ACTIVE NECK PROTECTION SYSTEM
A neck protection system includes a support structure, helmet, force transmission arrangement, actuator arrangement, sensor arrangement, and controller. The force transmission arrangement is coupled to the support structure and the helmet and applies a relative force between them. The actuator arrangement applies a load to the force transmission arrangement to initiate the relative force between the support structure and the helmet. The sensor arrangement measures movement changes of a vehicle. The controller is connected to the sensor arrangement to receive data representing the measured movement changes, and connected to the actuator arrangement, and generates and sends control commands to the actuator arrangement based on which the actuator arrangement applies the load to the force transmission arrangement. The controller receives maneuver information from a control computer of a vehicle and generates the control commands based on the received maneuver information and/or based on measurements of the sensor arrangement.
AIRBAG DEVICE
An airbag that prevents heavy interference with the head of an occupant during expansion and deployment even when the occupant is not seated in a vehicle seat in a regular position.
An airbag device 11, including an airbag 12 and an inflator 6 for supplying gas to the airbag 12. The airbag 12 is positioned to the sides of the center in the left-right direction of the vehicle seat 2 and has a pair of chambers 1a physically coupled by a coupling section 12a that deploy forward of the occupant 3 when expansion and deployment are complete. The pair of chambers 1a are respectively independent during expansion and deployment and expand and deploy frontward from both the left and right sides of the vehicle seat 2, having side protecting chambers 1 ab that cover at least the side sections 3b of the occupant 3. The side protecting chambers 1ab are coupled by coupling sections 12a positioned to the sides of the center in the left-right direction of the vehicle seat 2, and the coupling section 12a is thinner than the side protecting chambers 1ab at least during initial expansion and deployment.
Seat-mounted airbag device
A seat-mounted airbag device includes an inflator that is operated when a vehicle collision is detected or predicted and ejects gas and an airbag body that includes a front-rear chamber and a tip chamber. The front-rear chamber is deployed forward of a seat through a clearance between a window and a head of an occupant from a side portion of a headrest on a window side by the gas ejected from the inflator and disposed between the window and the head of the occupant. The tip chamber is deployed inward in a seat width direction from an end portion of the front-rear chamber on a seat front side and disposed forward of a face of the occupant on the seat front side. The airbag body housed in the side portion includes an outward wound portion wound outward in a roll shape with a seat up-down direction as an axial direction.
Seat-mounted airbag device
A seat-mounted airbag device includes a guidance member and an airbag body which includes a front-rear chamber and a distal-end chamber and is accommodated in a side portion of a headrest of a window-side vehicle seat in a state where the airbag body includes an outward winding portion. At the time of a front end collision, the front-rear chamber deploys from the side portion through a gap between the head of an occupant sitting on the window-side vehicle seat and the head of an occupant sitting on a central-side vehicle seat and is disposed in the gap. The distal-end chamber deploys inwardly from a front end part of the front-rear chamber. The guidance member projects from the side portion prior to the deployment of the airbag body so as to be disposed between the airbag body and the head of the occupant sitting on the central-side vehicle seat.
AIRBAG DEVICE
An airbag having a first cushion for protecting the side of the head of an occupant and a second cushion connected to the lower side thereof, the airbag device includes: an airbag for protecting the occupant seated in the seat of a vehicle, and an inflator that injects gas supplied to the airbag, the airbag in the expansion completed state where expansion and deployment are complete includes: the first cushion that covers at least the side of the head of the occupant, and a second cushion connected to the rear section of the first cushion at a height near the shoulder of the occupant which extends downward from this connecting point, and in the expansion completed state, the notched section is formed extending from the front towards the rear in between the first cushion and the second cushion.
Airbag with releasable secondary chambers
An assembly includes a first seat and a second seat spaced from the first seat. The assembly includes an airbag supported by the first seat. The airbag is inflatable to an inflated position between the seats. The airbag has a main chamber, a pair secondary chambers supported by the main chamber, and a tether releasably connected to the secondary chambers. The secondary chambers are maintained by the tether in an undeployed position relative to the main chamber and the secondary chambers are releasable by the tether to a deployed position in a cross-vehicle direction relative to the main chamber. The assembly includes a computer including a processor and a memory storing instructions executable by the processor to identify that an occupant is seated in the first seat, identify that an occupant is seated in the second seat and release the tether based on the identification of the occupants seated seats.
Airbag device and method for manufacturing airbag cushion
An airbag device configured to improving the opening and closing operability of a vent hole to reduce injuries to a passenger. The airbag device includes a cushion panel of an airbag cushion, the cushion panel having a hole, a guide panel overlapped with the cushion panel, and having a hole matching with the hole of the cushion panel, a bellows vent having a hollow vent hole therein, and connected to the hole of the cushion panel and the hole of the guide panel in a folded state while being located therebetween, and a tether connected to the bellows vent, and configured to close the vent hole by the bellows vent unfolded between the cushion panel and the guide panel as a tension pulling the bellows vent in a deployment direction of the airbag cushion due to an expansion pressure of the airbag cushion is generated.
IN-SEAT AIRBAG DEVICE
An in-seat airbag device having an airbag main body including: an outer side airbag portion having a front-rear chamber that expands past one side of a head of a passenger toward a seat front side, a left-right chamber that expands from a seat front side end portion of the front-rear chamber toward a seat width direction inner side and is disposed at a seat front side of a face of the passenger, a distal end chamber that expands from a seat width direction inner side end portion of the left-right chamber toward a seat rear side and is disposed at another side of the head of the passenger, and a tether that joins the front-rear chamber and the distal end chamber; and an inner side airbag portion that expands and is disposed between the front-rear chamber, the left-right chamber and the distal end chamber.
IN-SEAT AIRBAG DEVICE
An in-seat airbag device including an airbag main body having a front-rear chamber that expands past a side of a head of a passenger toward a seat front side and is disposed at the side of the head of the passenger, and a distal end chamber that expands from a seat front side end portion of the front-rear chamber toward a seat width direction inner side and is disposed at a seat front side of a face of the passenger, wherein the airbag main body and a seatback frame are connected by a force limiter mechanism that moves the airbag main body toward a seat front side when a load, which is toward a seat front side and is applied to the airbag main body, exceeds a predetermined threshold value at a time of head restraining when the head of the passenger is restrained.
Gas-fillable support means for a motor vehicle and motor vehicle equipped therewith
A support apparatus includes a gas-fillable support that is connectable to a gas generator. The gas-fillable support is securable to a body of a motor vehicle and has a first operating state which exists before the gas generator is activated and which has a first volume. The gas-fillable support has a second operating state which exists after the gas generator is activated and which has a second volume which is greater than the first volume. The gas-fillable support in the second operating state is contactable against a first portion which is operationally connected to the body and is contactable against a second portion which is operationally connected to the body and which is remote from the first end portion. A first mechanical strength of the gas-fillable support in the first operating state is less than a second mechanical strength of the gas-fillable support in the second operating state.
