TECHNIQUES FOR DEPLOYING VEHICLE AIRBAG SYSTEMS WITH PRIMARY AND AUXILIARY AIRBAGS
Airbag systems for use in a vehicle that is operable in a manual-steering mode or an automated-steering mode are provided. In one embodiment, an airbag system includes a primary airbag installed in a dashboard of a vehicle. The primary airbag is configured to be deployed when a collision event is detected, and, when deployed, the primary airbag is configured to protect a person seated in a driver seat of the vehicle. the airbag system also includes an auxiliary airbag configured to be deployed when the collision event is detected. During operation of the vehicle in a manual-steering mode, the deployment of the auxiliary airbag is configured to reduce contact between the primary airbag and a steering wheel of the vehicle when the primary airbag is deployed from the dashboard.
TECHNIQUES FOR DEPLOYING VEHICLE AIRBAG SYSTEMS WITH PRIMARY AND AUXILIARY AIRBAGS
Airbag systems for use in a vehicle that is operable in a manual-steering mode or an automated-steering mode are provided. VEHICLE TRIM OPENING DEVICE FOR AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT
Airbag cushion modules and vehicles comprising lever elements to facilitate opening adjacent vehicle structures. Some embodiments may comprise curtain airbag cushion assemblies comprising an inflator and a curtain airbag cushion fluidly coupled with the inflator. The curtain airbag cushion may be configured to deploy in a deployment direction adjacent to a vehicle door. A lever member may be coupled, operably and/or physically, with the curtain airbag cushion and may be configured to pivot during deployment of the curtain airbag cushion using forces generated from inflation of the curtain airbag cushion to pry an adjacent portion of a vehicle interior open during deployment.
OCCUPANT PROTECTIVE APPARATUS
In a shielding state, a partition extends from an upper portion to a lower portion of a cabin in such a manner as to partition a space between a pair of opposing vehicle seats. In the case where the partition is in the shielding state during a collision of a vehicle, the partition is inflated in a vehicle longitudinal direction by gas supplied from an inflator that is actuated when a collision detection sensor detects the collision of the vehicle. That is, since the partition is inflated in the space between the pair of the vehicle seats without interfering with the vehicle seats, the partition can reliably restrain an occupant who receives a collision load and is thereby displaced in the vehicle longitudinal direction from the vehicle seat. In this way, it is possible to easily secure a private space in the cabin and to improve occupant restraint performance.
Vehicle seat with deployable panel
A seat includes a seat bottom and a seatback. A seatbelt buckle is supported by the seat bottom. A restraint is deployable from the seatback to a deployed position and in the deployed position includes a first edge extending along the seatback, a second edge extending along the seat bottom, and a third edge extending from the first edge to the second edge. The restraint is disposed outboard of the seatbelt buckle relative to the seat bottom.
