Pretensioner

A pretensioner for introducing a webbing wound in a spool by explosive power obtained by exploding gunpowder when an impact is applied from the outside, the pretensioner includes: a hollow cylinder having one side surface for inserting a portion of a pinion connected to the spool; a micro gas generator (MGG) mounted in an upper end portion of the cylinder and for transferring explosive power into the cylinder while gunpowder provided at the inside explodes when an impact is applied from the outside; a rack mounted in a length direction at the inside of the cylinder and having one end portion disposed toward the MGG and having the other end portion disposed opposite to the pinion and having gear teeth provided in one side surface separated not to engage with the pinion before receiving explosive power from the MGG; and a roller for receiving explosive power from the MGG and rotatably mounted at the other side surface opposite to one side surface of the cylinder in which a portion of the pinion is inserted so that the gear teeth of the rack engage with the pinion when the rack falls toward a lower end portion of the cylinder and for guiding the separated rack to move toward the pinion.

RESTRAINT WEB PRE-TENSIONING AND SUSPENSION SEAT PULL-DOWN DEVICE

A device is disclosed for pre-tensioning an occupant restraint harness coupled to a seat portion of a motor vehicle seat and/or for pulling down the seat portion of the vehicle seat toward a seat base in embodiments in which the seat portion is suspended above the seat base. An elongated housing is secured to the seat portion, a web is coupled between the restraint harness or seat portion and the seat base or a support structure to which the seat base is mounted, and a piston carried by the housing defines a web guide in contact with the web between its two ends. As the piston moves along and relative to the housing in response to actuation thereof, the web guide displaces the web within the housing to pre-tension the occupant restraint harness and/or to pull the seat portion toward the seat base.

A pretensioner and a seat belt device are provided. A pretensioner includes a wire connected to webbing that restrains an occupant, a piston disposed to the wire, a cylinder that slidably accommodates the piston, a gas generator that applies driving force to the piston, and a housing that integrally connects the cylinder and the gas generator. The housing includes an insertion hole that guides the wire, a communication part that is communicated with the cylinder and the insertion hole, and a gas-supply port that supplies gas generated by the gas generator to the communication part. The pretensioner includes a wire guide disposed at a boundary portion of the insertion hole and the communication part, and a holding member that is inserted into the communication part and locked to the gas-supply port, thereby to position the wire guide.

Load limiting seat belt buckle assemblies

A seat belt buckle assembly includes a buckle housing; a plate extending from the buckle housing and defining a slot; and a bracket including a rivet engaged in the slot. The plate and rivet are configured such that, in response to an impact force that exceeds a threshold acting to pull the buckle housing away from the bracket, the slot plastically deforms, permitting the buckle housing and plate to translate relative to the bracket.

Pretensioning, force-limiting seat belt assembly

A seat belt assembly for a vehicle includes a pretensioner, and a cable connected to the pretensioner. The seat belt assembly includes a torsion bar having a plurality of teeth. The cable has slots interlocking with the teeth. During a sensed impact of the vehicle, the pretensioner is activated to retract the cable to pretension the seat belt assembly relative to an occupant of the vehicle. The interlocking of the slots with the teeth exerts torsional forces on the torsion bar, which yields to reduce forces on a chest of the occupant.

Seatbelt buckle intrusion protection device

A device for preventing protrusion of a seatbelt anchorage cable into a seat belt system buckle during operation of a pretensioner coupled with the cable and a buckle assembly, the cable of a type affixed at a first end to the pretensioner, and at a second end to the buckle assembly. The cable further having an end wrap forming a loop around a rivet affixed to a frame of the buckle assembly with the cable loop wrapping around the rivet. The device having a feature positioned adjacent to the cable loop and blocking movement of the loop into the buckle. Embodiments include; providing features of a buckle housing in the form of a tab which blocks motion of the cable loop, retainer ring element attached to the buckle frame having features which embrace the cable loop, and clips which can be attached to the buckle assembly, embracing the cable attachment.

BODY SILL AND ANCHORING DEVICE FOR A SEATBELT IN A VEHICLE BODY ASSEMBLY

A vehicle body assembly includes a first door sill arrangement and a second door sill arrangement for a motor vehicle. The first door sill arrangement includes a first bodywork section, a first anchoring device for anchoring a seatbelt in the first bodywork section, and a belt tensioner for tightening the seatbelt. The belt tensioner is in operative connection with the first anchoring device. A first trim element covers the first bodywork section. The second door sill arrangement includes a second bodywork section, a second anchoring device for anchoring the seatbelt in the second bodywork section and a second trim element, which covers the second bodywork section.

Belt tensioner for a safety belt system

The invention relates to a belt tensioner (10) for a seat belt system comprising a belt shaft housing (18) and a belt shaft (12) pivoted in the belt shaft housing (18) about an axis (A), wherein prior to activation of the belt tensioner (10) the belt shaft (12) is retained in a torsionally fixed manner relative to the belt shaft housing (18) in at least one direction of rotation.

Pretensioner with guide loop or anchor

A number of variations may include a product comprising: a pretensioner that moves from a first position to a second position, several with a with guide loop assembly comprising: a guide loop; a pretensioner, wherein the pretensioner is attached to the guide loop; and wherein the pretensioner moves a guide loop from a first position to a second position upon deployment. A number of variations may also include a slot in the pretensioner body through which motion is communicated to a seatbelt anchor or guide loop to move it from a first position to a second position.

End-fitting tensioner for a safety belt system
