TOLERANCE TO CGMMV IN CUCUMBER
20250228178 · 2025-07-17 ·

Plants of Cucumis sativus, preferably Cucumis sativus var. sativus, resistant and/or tolerant to tobamovirus, especially to Cucumber Green Mottle Mosaic Virus (CGMMV), are disclosed. Cucumbers, especially cultivated cucumbers, comprising genetic determinants that lead to tolerance and/or resistance to CGMMV also are disclosed. Markers linked to the genetic determinants and the use of such markers to identify or select the genetic determinants and to identify or select plants carrying such tolerance or resistance also are disclosed. Seeds and progeny of such plants and propagation material for obtaining such plants, and different uses of these plants, also are disclosed.

Genetic basis for Pythium resistance

The present invention relates to a Cucumis sativus plant which comprises a copy number variant region which leads to Pythium and Didymella brioniae resistance. The invention further relates to propagation material suitable for producing such Cucumis sativus plant. The invention also relates to a method for producing such Cucumis sativus plant and to methods for identification and selection of such a plant. In addition, the invention relates to a marker for identification of the copy number variant region resulting in Pythium and Didymella brioniae resistance in Cucumis sativus, and to use of said marker. The invention also relates to seed which comprises the copy number variant region which leads to Pythium and Didymella brioniae resistance in the plant grown from such seed.

Cucumber plants with improved pest resistance

Cucumber plants exhibiting resistance to Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. radicis cucumerinum (FORC) are provided, together with methods of producing, identifying, or selecting plants or germplasm with a FORC resistance phenotype. Such plants include cucumber plants comprising introgressed genomic regions conferring disease resistance. Compositions, including novel polymorphic markers for detecting plants comprising introgressed disease resistance alleles, are further provided.

CYSDV RESISTANCE IN MEMBERS OF THE CUCURBITACEAE FAMILY

The present invention relates to a modified gene that provides resistance to Cucurbit Yellow Stunting Disorder virus (CYSDV) when present in a plant of the Cucurbitaceae family. The invention further relates to progeny, seed, and fruit of the plant that is resistant against CYSDV. The invention also relates to propagation material suitable for producing the plant that is resistant to CYSDV. Additionally, the invention relates to methods for producing, identifying, and selecting a plant of the Cucurbitaceae family having resistance against CYSDV.
