Tolerance to ToLCNDV in cucumber
A Cucumis sativus var. sativus plant tolerant to Tomato Leaf Curl New Delhi Virus (ToLCNDV) includes in its genome the combination of a first quantitative trait locus (QTL) QTL1 on chromosome 1 and a second QTL, QTL2 on chromosome 2, at least one of QTL1 and QTL2 being homozygous, wherein said combination confers to the plant tolerance to ToLCNDV and said QTLs on chromosomes 1 and 2 are present in the genome of the seeds of plant TOCUR6080, NCIMB accession number 43427. The QTL are preferably characterized by defined alleles of different SNPs on chromosomes 1 and 2. Parts of these plants have ToLCNDV tolerance phenotype, as well as progeny, and can be used for introgressing the tolerance in another genetic background, with different methods for obtaining cucumber plants or seeds with increased tolerance to ToLCNDV and different markers linked to the QTLs used to confer tolerance phenotype.
Cucumber variety NUN 83071 CUL
A new and distinct plant of variety NUN 83071 CUL is disclosed as well as seeds and plants and fruits thereof. NUN 83071 CUL is a Dutch long cucumber variety comprising resistance to Cladosporium cucumerinum, Cucumber Mosaic Virus (CMV), Podosphaera xanthii, Corynespora cassiicola, Cucumber Vein Yellowing Virus (CVYV), and Cucumber Green Mottle Mosaic Virus (CGMMV).
CUCUMBER PLANTS WITH IMPROVED PEST RESISTANCE
Cucumber plants exhibiting resistance to Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. radicis cucumerinum (FORC) are provided, together with methods of producing, identifying, or selecting plants or germplasm with a FORC resistance phenotype. Such plants include cucumber plants comprising introgressed genomic regions conferring disease resistance. Compositions, including novel polymorphic markers for detecting plants comprising introgressed disease resistance alleles, are further provided.
CMV RESISTANCE CONFERRING GENES
The present invention relates to a modified ABCB9 gene encoding a protein conferring resistance to CMV in a plant of the Cucurbitaceae, such as a cucumber plant, in which the protein is expressed, where the gene has a) a nucleotide sequence which encodes a protein with SEQ ID NO: 4; b) a nucleotide sequence with SEQ ID NO: 3; c) a nucleotide sequence encoding a protein derived by substitution, deletion and/or addition of one or more amino acids of the protein with SEQ ID NO: 4; d) a nucleotide sequence that encodes a protein with an amino acid sequence, which is at least 85% identical to SEQ ID NO: 4; e) a nucleotide sequence which is at least 85% identical to SEQ ID NO: 3; or f) a nucleotide sequence according to c) or d) wherein the protein has a methionine (M) on position 428 of SEQ ID NO: 4, or on a position corresponding thereto.
