VEHICLE EXTERIOR IMAGING SYSTEMS

This disclosure relates to vehicle exterior imaging systems that capture and display views of the exterior environment to vehicle operators. An exemplary vehicle exterior imaging system may include a glass panel including a combiner positioned between a first layer of glass and a second layer of glass, a first exterior side-view imager assembly configured to capture images of a vehicle exterior environment, and a projector assembly configured to project an output image onto the glass panel. The output image is based on the images captured by the first exterior side-view imager assembly. The glass panel may be part of either a windshield or a door window, and the projector assembly may be mounted either outside or inside of a housing of the first exterior side-view imager assembly.

DISPLAY SYSTEM

A display system includes: a display that emits light corresponding to image information; a half mirror that receives the light emitted, reflects, as reflected light, a first component of the light received, and transmits a second component different from the first component; and a first reflecting mirror having a concave surface that receives and reflects the reflected light toward the half mirror. The half mirror includes a first retardation film, a first support substrate, and a reflective polarizing film stacked in this order from a side on which the light emitted is received. The first retardation film changes a phase of the light received. The first support substrate is light-transmissive. The reflective polarizing film reflects a first polarized component and transmits a second polarized component different from the first polarized component.

Imaging unit for vehicle

An imaging unit for a vehicle including: an imaging device configured to image an area outside of a vehicle; and a housing attached to a side portion of a vehicle body of the vehicle and configured to accommodate the imaging device, wherein the housing comprises a convex section formed by downwardly swelling a lower wall that faces a lower side of the vehicle, and a drain hole formed in the convex section and configured to discharge water entered the housing to an outside of the housing.

ROTATABLE OUTSIDE MIRROR WITH IMAGER ASSEMBLY

An exterior mirror assembly for a vehicle includes an arm having a proximal end coupled with a vehicle door and a distal end. A mirror assembly is coupled to the arm. The mirror assembly includes an electro-optic element. The mirror assembly is rotatable about the distal end between first and second positions. An imager is disposed proximate to the distal end and configured to capture image data within a blind spot zone of said vehicle

MIRROR MONITOR USING TWO LEVELS OF REFLECTIVITY AND TRANSMISSIBILITY

A rear-view mirror and modular monitor system and method include an interior mirror that embeds a modular monitor behind see-through mirror glass. In some embodiments, the system includes multiple cameras, some in the vehicle, bus and/or truck, as well as some cameras outside the vehicle, bus and/or truck, advantageously providing the driver an opportunity to view what is happening, for example, in the back rows of the bus and/or cabin, while also using the mirror to look at objects in the bus and/or cabin that are visible using the mirror. The rear-view mirror and modular monitor system is configured to be easily assembled and/or disassembled when necessary for maintenance and/or to replace parts.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETECTING AN OBJECT

Systems and methods are provided for detecting an object in front of a vehicle. In one implementation, an object detecting system includes an image capture device configured to acquire a plurality of images of an area, a data interface, and a processing device programmed to compare a first image to a second image to determine displacement vectors between pixels, to search for a region of coherent expansion that is a set of pixels in at least one of the first image and the second image, for which there exists a common focus of expansion and a common scale magnitude such that the set of pixels satisfy a relationship between pixel positions, displacement vectors, the common focus of expansion, and the common scale magnitude, and to identify presence of a substantially upright object based on the set of pixels.

Surround view system for a vehicle
10965911 · 2021-03-30 · ·

A surround view system for a vehicle, comprising a camera positioned in or on the vehicle to capture the vehicle's surroundings, an evaluation unit processing images captured by the camera and a display displaying a top-view image generated by the evaluation unit. The evaluation unit obtains the top-view image by calculating a projection of the captured images onto a virtual projection surface and by calculating a top-view of the projection on the virtual projection surface. The virtual projection surface comprises a flat bottom part and a rising part adjacent to the flat bottom part, wherein, in an area comprising the rising part at one side of the vehicle over a length of the vehicle, a curvature of the virtual projection surface is zero in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle.
