Image Capture and Display System
A system, such as a driver assistance system, arranged to form images of outside a vehicle for viewing from an eye box region within the vehicle. The system comprises an image capture device, a picture generating unit and an optical element. The image capture device is arranged to be mounted to the vehicle. The image capture device is arranged to capture images outside the vehicle. The optical element is disposed in front of the replay plane. The optical element has a focal length. The distance between the replay plane and the optical element is less that the focal length of the optical element such that the optical element forms a virtual image of each picture for viewing from the eye box region. The picture generating unit may be a holographic projector. The holographic projector may be arranged to form pictures on a replay plane. Each picture may correspond to an image captured by the image capture device.
SYSTEM AND METHOD OF OPERATING DISPLAY INSIDE MIRROR
A method is provided for operating a display inside mirror for driving a display unit in response to a driving request of a user and a change in the driving request to provide a rear visual field to the user. The method includes determining whether a display unit is set to an operation mode and when the display unit is set to the operation mode, determining whether a driving condition is satisfied. When the driving condition is not satisfied whether the determined driving condition is changed is determined prior to determination of the driving condition. The controller is configured to operate the display unit when the driving condition is changed and convert the display unit to an off state when the driving condition is not changed.
VIDEO-BASED REAR-VIEW MIRROR SYSTEM FOR VEHICLES INCLUDING MOTORCYCLES
An improved video-based rear-view mirror system for vehicles including motorcycles (but also with application to other vehicles including cars, trucks, bicycles, and so on) includes at least one digital display screen configured to be mounted in a side-mirror positioned unit; and at least one camera unit coupled to the digital display screen, such that the digital display screen is configured to display video data captured by the camera unit; wherein the system is configured such that the video data displayed by the at least one display screen is tuned to provide a side-mirror proxy view.
Mirror monitor using two levels of reflectivity and transmissibility
A rear-view mirror and modular monitor system and method include an interior mirror that embeds a modular monitor behind see-through mirror glass. In some embodiments, the system includes multiple cameras, some in the vehicle, bus and/or truck, as well as some cameras outside the vehicle, bus and/or truck, advantageously providing the driver an opportunity to view what is happening, for example, in the back rows of the bus and/or cabin, while also using the mirror to look at objects in the bus and/or cabin that are visible using the mirror. The rear-view mirror and modular monitor system is configured to be easily assembled and/or disassembled when necessary for maintenance and/or to replace parts.
VEHICULAR VISION SYSTEM INCLUDING REAR BACKUP CAMERA
A vehicular vision system includes a rear backup camera and a display device viewable by a driver of the equipped vehicle. The display device includes a video screen operable to display video images derived, at least in part, from image data captured by the rear backup video camera. Video images derived, at least in part, from image data captured by the rear backup video camera are displayed by the video screen of the display device when a transmission of the equipped vehicle is shifted into reverse gear by the driver of the equipped vehicle. The video screen continues to display video images derived, at least in part, from image data captured by the rear backup video camera for a threshold time period after the transmission of the equipped vehicle is shifted out of reverse gear by the driver of the equipped vehicle.
Apparatus and method for a safety system of cameras for advantageously viewing vehicular traffic by the driver
A system for a motor vehicle for use by a driver of the vehicle to view the surroundings of the vehicle, while driving the vehicle has a system of digital cameras, a computer processor, a memory and a display screen. The processor receives inputs from the system of cameras where the inputs have a sequence of images representing views of surroundings of the vehicle and temporarily saves the images in the memory. The processor processes the series of images to create composite views of the surroundings and displays the composite views on the display screen.
CONVEX REARVIEW MIRROR AND MONITOR WITH REVERSIBLE BACK/SOCKET MOUNT
Vehicular camera monitoring system
A camera monitoring system for a vehicle includes an interior rearview mirror assembly with a video display screen disposed behind the interior mirror reflective element. The video display screen is operable to display video images derived at least in part from image data captured by at least one video camera of a plurality of video cameras of the equipped vehicle. Image data captured by at least a driver-side viewing video camera and a passenger-side viewing video camera is provided to an image processor and is processed by the image processor to detect vehicles present exterior of the equipped vehicle. Responsive at least in part to detection of another vehicle, video images derived at least in part from image data captured by the driver-side viewing video camera, a rear viewing video camera and/or the passenger-side viewing video camera are displayed by the video display screen.
Modular camera structure
A modular camera structure to be mounted on the rear-view mirror frame on either lateral side of a large vehicle to eliminate rear-view blind spots includes an annular base, a cover, and a fastening member. The annular base has an annular projection on which an image-recording device is placed, and a curved groove on the opposite side. The cover has a lower opening coupled with the annular projection such that the image-recording device is secured in the cover and has its lens exposed through an upper opening of the cover. A recessed portion of the fastening member and the curved groove of the annular base can engage with two opposite sides of the rear-view mirror frame respectively, before locking members lock two ends of the fastening member to the annular base to secure the annular base and the fastening member tightly to the rear-view mirror frame in a clamping manner.
