Method for detecting an object via a vehicular vision system
11648877 · 2023-05-16 · ·

A method for detecting an object via a vehicular vision system includes disposing first and second cameras at respective locations at a vehicle so as to have respective first and second fields of view rearward of the vehicle. The locations are vertically and horizontally spaced apart by respective vertical and horizontal separation distances. With the first and second cameras disposed at the respective locations, the first field of view at least partially overlaps the second field of view. An electronic control unit (ECU) is provided that includes an image processor. Image data is captured by the cameras and provided to the ECU and processed at the ECU. The ECU, responsive to processing of captured image data and based on the separation distances, determines presence of an object in the overlapping region of the first and second fields of view and determines the location of the object relative to the vehicle.

DISPLAY SYSTEM

A reflectance/transmittance of an optical device disposed at a position through which image light emitted from a liquid crystal display displaying an icon passes is changed according to an anti-glare level to achieve anti-glare of the reflected image. A color of the icon displayed on the liquid crystal display is adjusted such that the higher the transmittance of the optical device is, the lower the lightness is, so that the icon of a similar color is visually recognized regardless of the reflectance/transmittance of the optical device.

VEHICULAR TRAILER HITCHING ASSIST SYSTEM

A vehicular trailer hitching assist system includes a rear backup camera disposed at a rear portion of a vehicle and a control disposed in the vehicle. A display device includes a video display screen operable to display video images for viewing by a driver of the vehicle. Responsive to the driver initiating a hitching maneuver event by engaging reverse gear of the vehicle, rear backup video images derived from image data captured by the rear backup camera are displayed at the video display screen. An overlay overlays the displayed rear backup video images and aids in guiding connection of a trailer hitch of the equipped vehicle to a trailer tongue of a trailer. Continued display of rear backup video images that are overlaid by the overlay is ceased upon elapse of a threshold period of time or upon exceeding a threshold speed or upon exceeding a threshold distance traveled.

VEHICULAR DISPLAY CONTROL DEVICE AND VEHICULAR DISPLAY DEVICE

A vehicular display control device includes an image acquisition section configured to acquire a first captured image obtained by capturing a back or a side of a vehicle and a second captured image including an image obtained by a driver of the vehicle by facing to a left side or a right side with respect to a vehicle's traveling direction and a display controller configured to make a head-up display mounted on the vehicle display both of a first display image based on the first captured image and a second display image based on the second captured image on different display screens respectively.

System for Visually Depicting Fields of View of a Commercial Vehicle

A light-diffusing optical element with efficient coupling to light sources with high numerical aperture. The light-diffusing optical element includes a higher index core surrounded by a lower index cladding. The cladding includes scattering centers that scatter evanescent light entering the cladding from the core. The scattered light exits the element to provide broad-area illumination along the element. Scattering centers include dopants, nanoparticles and/or internal voids. The core may also include scattering centers. The core is glass and the cladding may be glass or a polymer. The element features high numerical aperture and high scattering efficiency.

Method and apparatus for visualization of an environment of a motor vehicle

The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for visualizing an environment of a motor vehicle, wherein the apparatus has at least one camera for detecting an environment of the motor vehicle, at least one display unit, and an evaluation and control unit, which is designed to depict images of the environment on the display unit, depending on the pictures from the at least one camera, wherein the apparatus comprises a device for detecting a head position of a vehicle passenger, wherein the evaluation and control unit is designed so that the depiction on the display unit is adapted depending on the detected head position, so that the vehicle passenger sees a depiction of the environment of the motor vehicle that the vehicle passenger would see if the display unit were a transparent window of the motor vehicle.

Blind Spot Detection Systems And Methods

Example blind spot detection systems and methods are described. In one implementation, a primary vehicle detects a secondary vehicle ahead of the primary vehicle in an adjacent lane of traffic. A method determines dimensions of the secondary vehicle and estimates a vehicle class associated with the secondary vehicle based on the dimensions of the secondary vehicle. The method also identifies a side-view mirror location on the secondary vehicle and determines a blind spot associated with the secondary vehicle based on the vehicle class and the side-view mirror location.
