Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are provided for implementing a self-cleaning sensor apparatus. In some examples, the self-cleaning sensor apparatus can include an optical sensor; an actuator system to rotate a rotary joint of the self-cleaning sensor apparatus; a manifold directly or indirectly coupled to the rotary joint, the manifold being configured to rotate in response to a rotation of the rotary joint, and wherein the manifold is disposed at an angle relative to a top or bottom surface of the optical sensor; and one or more nozzles disposed within the manifold, the one or more nozzles being configured to spray compressed air on an exterior surface of the optical sensor, the exterior surface including a surface of a lens of the optical sensor and/or a surface configured to send and receive optical signals associated with the optical sensor.
EXTERIOR CAMERA LENS CLEANING SYSTEM AND CLEANING METHOD THEREOF
An exterior camera lens cleaning system for a vehicle may include: a base unit fixed to the vehicle; a housing unit configured to be rotatable with respect to the base unit; a camera unit including a camera module, the camera unit at least partially inserted into the housing unit and configured to move in a longitudinal direction of the housing unit; a wiper disposed on an inside surface of the housing unit so as to face the camera module; and a control unit configured to receive video data through the camera module, to control a rotation operation of the housing unit based on a state of the vehicle, and to control an extension operation of the camera unit. The camera unit may be interlocked with the housing unit, and when the housing unit is rotated by the control unit, the camera unit may be configured to move horizontally in the longitudinal direction of the housing unit.
Telescopic washing device
The telescopic washing device comprises first and second telescopic members operable along a first linear path between retracted extended positions parallel to telescopic member longitudinal axis Z; a wiper element coupled to the second telescopic member such that the wiper element is movable according to a second path lying on a plane XY perpendicular to the longitudinal axis Z; a second guiding area associated with first telescopic member or wiper element and according to second path; and a guiding element associated with the other of the first telescopic member or the wiper element to slide to the second guiding area as the first and second telescopic members move to each other. As pressurized fluid is supplied to the first telescopic member, the wiper element is at least rotated according to the second path.
Alternative wiper mechanism to remove rainwater on a sensor enclosure
A sensor enclosure comprising a domed cover and a base. The base can be encased by the domed cover. The base comprises an inner frame, an outer frame, one or more wipers, and a powertrain. The inner frame can provide surfaces for one or more sensors. The outer frame, disposed underneath the inner frame, the outer frame includes a slewing ring. The slewing ring comprises an inner ring to which the domed cover is attached and an outer ring attached to the outer frame. The one or more wipers extends vertically from the outer frame, each wiper having a first end attached to the outer frame and a second end attached to a support ring, and each wiper making a contact with the dome cover. The powertrain, disposed within the outer frame, configured to rotate the ring and the dome cover attached to the inner ring.

An autonomous vehicle includes a front bumper comprising an opening; a light detection and ranging (LiDAR) sensor comprising a surface exposed to the opening of the front bumper; and a sensor cleaning device configured to remove foreign materials on the surface. The sensor cleaning device includes a wiper configured to move over a surface of a sensor to remove foreign materials from the surface of the sensor; and a movement unit connected to the wiper and comprising at least a linkage system configured to perform folding and unfolding movements, which causes the wiper to reciprocate over the surface of the sensor.

Camera for a vehicle including a wiping member
An imaging device for a vehicle and a vehicle are disclosed. The imaging device includes: a casing, a camera, a wiping member, and a drive device. The casing includes a casing body and a transparent cover disposed to the casing body, and the transparent cover is rotatable relative to the casing body. The camera is disposed in the casing and configured to obtain image information outside the transparent cover through the transparent cover. The wiping member is disposed to the casing and is stationary relative to the camera. The drive device is connected with the transparent cover and configured to drive the transparent cover to rotate to enable the wiping member to wipe an outer surface of the transparent cover.
Rotary Wiper System
The disclosure provides for a wiper system for cleaning a surface of a sensor housing, such as a sensor housing positioned on top of a vehicle. The wiper system includes a plurality of windows spaced around a sensor housing, and a plurality of wipers positioned around the sensor housing, each of the wipers includes a wiper blade configured to clean a corresponding window of the plurality of windows. The wiper system further includes a drive system including a moveable part coupled to a motor. The motor is configured to drive the drive system to simultaneously rotate the plurality of wipers around the sensor housing such that the plurality of wipers remove debris from the plurality of windows.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING COMPONENTS IN AN AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE
According to one aspect, a vehicle includes a chassis, a propulsion system carried on the chassis, a control system carried on the chassis, and a components arrangement carried on the chassis. The propulsion system configured to propel the vehicle, and the control system is configured to enable the vehicle to operate autonomously. The components arrangement includes at least a frame, a panel having a surface, a wiper arrangement having at least one wiper, and a fluid distribution arrangement. The frame is configured to interface with the chassis and to support the panel, the wiper arrangement, and the fluid distribution arrangement. The fluid distribution arrangement is configured to dispense a fluid onto the surface and the wiper is configured to sweep over the surface.
