VEHICLE FRAME
A vehicle frame for a hybrid or electric vehicle includes a pair of longitudinally-extending side rails being positioned in spaced relation across a width direction of the vehicle frame to define a battery space therebetween. A side impact absorber is positioned on a first one of the pair of longitudinally-extending side rails. A first member of the side impact absorber is secured to an outboard sidewall of the first side rail to define a first impact energy-absorbing load path to the first side rail. The first member has a wave-form shape and extends laterally outward from the outboard sidewall to an outboard end of the side impact absorber. A second member of the side impact absorber is secured to the outboard sidewall of the first side rail, further from a height-wise center thereof, the second member defining a second impact energy-absorbing load path from the outboard end of the side impact absorber to the first side rail.
Retractable overhead shade
A retractable overhead assembly for a vehicle having a retractable cover (912) under tension and an integrated stiffening rod that includes attachment features (916) to selectively connect to a windshield area. The retractable system is self contained within an extrusion keeping the overall package size small and the installation/removal simple. The retractable cover creates a sun shade over the vehicle front cockpit and/or rear passenger area when deployed, and is retractable to a stowed position. The retractable overhead assembly is installable under any hard or soft top assembly configuration, and does not impede use or operation of the hard top or soft top assembly.
Vehicle bed side wall configured for vertical load support
A side wall of a vehicle bed can be configured to provide support against vertical loads, such as step loading, imposed on a lateral side wall of the bed. The bed can be defined in part by a first lateral side wall and a second lateral side wall. The first and/or second lateral side wall can include an inner wall member, an outer wall member, and a top protector. The top protector can being operatively connected to the inner and outer wall members. The top protector can define a top surface of the respective lateral side wall. The inner wall member can include a transverse portion that extends to an innermost end. The innermost end can be substantially adjacent to an inner side of the top protector. Thus, the inner and outer wall members can support the top protector across substantially its entire width.
Extruded support members for facilitating access to a vehicle and related methods
Support devices and their components are disclosed. The support device facilitates access to a vehicle and includes an elongate support member, brackets for mounting the elongate support member to a vehicle, and a step affixed to the elongate support member. The step can be movable relative to the support member after fastening the step to the support member.
Battery thermal management assembly and method
An exemplary vehicle assembly vehicle assembly includes, among other things, a heat exchange module that manages thermal energy levels of a traction battery. An inlet conduit is configured to draw air to the heat exchange module from an area underneath a vehicle. An outlet conduit is configured to dispense air from the heat exchange module to the area underneath the vehicle. An exemplary thermal management method includes, among other things, to manage thermal energy within a traction battery of a vehicle, exchanging thermal energy between a fluid and air at a heat exchange module. The air is drawn to the heat exchange module from an area underneath the vehicle. The air is dispensed from the heat exchange module to the area underneath the vehicle.
End cap for roller tonneau cover
An end cap for a roller tonneau cover of a truck includes, among other things, an end portion having a primary sliding surface and a first interlocking feature that provides an interface between the end cap and a slat of the tonneau cover, a tooth portion including teeth for engaging with a pinion gear, and a connection portion between the end portion and the tooth portion.
ELECTRIC DRIVE SUPPORTING COMPONENT PLATFORM FOR SEMI-TRACTOR AND TRUCK VEHICLES
A platform to replace under-the-hood engine assembly of a conventional internal combustion engine vehicle. The platform includes a backbone frame and a tower frame secured to the backbone frame towards a vehicle front. The backbone frame and the tower frame are secured to chassis frame of the vehicle through a three point isolator mounting system. A plurality of electric drive components, such as battery radiators, electric-axle and high-voltage accessories cooling system radiator, air conditioning condenser, cooling fans, brake retarder, DC-DC voltage converter(s), HVAC compressor, inverter(s), low voltage batteries package, air compressor, pumps, etc. are secured to the backbone frame and the tower frame to support the electric motor of the electric vehicle.
Vehicle frame component
A vehicle frame component for limiting the movement of the wheel of the vehicle toward the cab of a cab on frame vehicle including a base member welded to openings in the frame side rail and extending outwardly and located proximal the wheel structure. In one embodiment the vehicle frame component is located forward of the wheel and includes a tire puncture device to deflate the tire during an offset front impact and in a second embodiment the vehicle frame component is located rearward of the wheel. The vehicle frame component has particular utility during an offset front impact where the offset is less than approximately twenty-five percent (25%) of the width of the vehicle.
Fuel tank with baffles and struts
A fuel tank for a truck, the fuel tank having a fuel tank body with a peripheral wall and end walls that define at least one receptacle to receive a liquid or gaseous medium. At least one baffle is fixedly attached to the inside surface of the peripheral wall via an inner fixing member. An outer fixing member is to fixedly attach the fuel tank body to the chassis of the truck, and is also connected to the inner fixing member through the peripheral wall.
Protective cage assemblies for electrified vehicle battery packs
A protective cage assembly includes a frame, a bracket assembly mounted to a first tubular member of the frame, a gusset of the bracket assembly extending between the bracket assembly and a second tubular member of the frame, and a third tubular member of the frame removably received by the bracket assembly. The protective cage assembly may be mounted within a cargo space of an electrified vehicle for both protecting the battery pack and establishing a load bearing floor of the cargo space.
