Method and a system for controlling vehicle speed
A device and a method for controlling vehicle speed in a vehicle equipped with brake cruise control when the vehicle is travelling downhill are provided. The method involves driving a vehicle downhill with the brake set speed set to a first brake set speed; detecting a current vehicle speed; automatically applying a brake torque using at least an auxiliary brake to maintain the first brake set speed; and detecting a manual application of a vehicle service brake, in order to decrease vehicle speed. If a control unit detects that the driver is applying the service brake, then the control unit is automatically arranged to set the brake set speed to a second brake set speed that is lower than the first brake set speed; and to apply a brake torque using at least the auxiliary brake if a detected current vehicle speed exceeds the second brake set speed.
AERODYNAMIC TRACTOR-TRAILER
A tractor-trailer is disclosed, with associated apparatuses. A tractor may include a tractor air duct disposed underneath a cab. The tractor air duct may extend between a front opening at a front of the tractor and a rear opening at a rear of the tractor. A trailer may include a duct system that receives airflow from the rear opening of the tractor air duct and directs the airflow to a location behind a cargo compartment. An air distributor may be disposed behind the cargo compartment. An air distributor may include a fairing with openings, so that airflow from the duct system enters a space between the cargo compartment and the fairing, and exits the openings behind the trailer.
TRANSPORT TRAILER WITH ON-BOARD CHARGING STATION
A transport trailer, method of construction of the trailer, and method of operation of the trailer that supplies electrical power to power equipment during transport, the transport trailer includes a power coupling for receiving power from a vehicle towing the transport trailer and conduit for transmitting the power from the vehicle to a power charging arrangement, the power charging arrangement comprising a power transmitting pad compatible with a power capture resonator used to charge an on-board battery of power equipment.
Vehicle Energy Management System and Related Methods
A vehicle is proposed to control regeneration and reuse of captured energy in a through-the-road hybrid configuration. The vehicle comprises a vehicle frame, an energy store, and a controller. The vehicle frame is configured for over-the-roadway travel under a power of plural drive axles. At least one of the plural drive axles is coupled via a primary drivetrain to a fuel-fed engine to drive at least a pair of wheels. At least one other of the plural drive axles is an electrically-powered drive axle configured to supply supplemental torque to additional wheels. The energy store is configured to supply the electrically-powered drive axle with electrical power in a first mode of operation and receive energy recovered using the electrically-powered drive axle in a second mode of operation. The controller is coupled between the electrically-powered drive axle and one or more sensor inputs to transition between different modes of operation.
TRANSMISSION ARRANGEMENT
A transmission arrangement including a first planetary gear set comprising a first sun gear, a first ring gear and a first planet carrier; a second planetary gear set comprising a second sun gear, a second ring gear and a second planet carrier; a third planetary gear set comprising a third sun gear, a third ring gear and a third planet carrier; an input shaft being operatively connected to the second and third sun gears; a first intermediate shaft operatively connected to the first ring gear and to the second planet carrier; a gear selection arrangement; a first output shaft to be connected to a first driven axle, a second output shaft to be connected to a second driven axle, and a differential unit configured to distribute torque to the first and second output shafts.
Battery assembly
The present disclosure relates to a battery assembly for a vehicle comprising a pair of longitudinally extending frame rails, the battery assembly comprising a first and a second vehicle battery module, the first vehicle battery module being stacked vertically on top of the second vehicle battery, wherein the battery assembly is configured to be connected to the vehicle vertically below the frame rails by attaching an upper surface of the first vehicle battery module to a horizontally extending portion of a pair of brackets, the pair of brackets being attachable to a respective one of the longitudinally extending frame rails.
GAS TANK ARRANGEMENT
A gas tank arrangement for an internal combustion engine, the gas tank arrangement comprising a gas tank for containing a combustible gas, a first fuel pump arranged downstream the gas tank and arranged to increase the pressure level of the combustible gas to a first pressure level, wherein the gas tank arrangement further comprises a second fuel pump arranged downstream the first fuel pump and arranged to increase the pressure level of the combustible gas to a second pressure level, wherein the second pressure level is higher than the first pressure level.
BATTERY ELECTRIC TRACTOR AND CONSTRUCTION KIT FOR ITS CREATION
In order to be able to accommodate the required number of battery modules (5)specified in terms of their external dimensionsand in particular the number required by the customer, with good weight distribution, in the chassis gradations of diesel tractors, in particular of long cabs, when switching to a battery electric drive, different arrangements of the battery modules (5) at the front and in particular also at the rear in the chassis (2) are proposed according to the invention.
Trailer mounted battery range extender for electric truck tractor
A tractor trailer battery system having a battery compartment containing one or more battery units which house one or more battery cells, electrical leads from the battery units to a trailer mounted controller in electrical communication with a cab mounted controller which is in electrical communication an electric motor or hybrid engine system. The battery system allows for either the trailer mounted controller or the cab mounted controller to provide principal communication to the electric motor or hybrid engine system.
Electric powertrain for a vehicle
an electric powertrain integrated into a vehicle axle. Such electric axle (or E-axle) is a front or rear axle that includes an axle body (or housing) adapted to receive a powertrain, which is arranged to provide torque to the wheels of the axle. The E-Axle is a compact and economical electric drive solution for battery electric vehicles, fuel cells and hybrid applications. The electric motor(s), electronics and transmission are combined in a compact unit that directly drives the wheels provided at the longitudinal ends of the axle.
