Latch mechanism for streamer device
A streamer device or other system can include a pylon configured to attach to a locking collar, and a latch mechanism with a seat component. The latch mechanism comprises a pin member configured to attach to the locking collar, and a bias component. The seat component can be configured to retain the bias component when the pylon is attached to the locking collar, and the bias component can be configured to bias the pin member to hold the locking collar to the pylon. The bias may responsive to a position of the seat component, or determined or controlled at least in part based on the position.
Methods and Systems for Underwater Application of Streamer Coating on Geophysical Streamers
Embodiments relate generally to marine geophysical surveying. More particularly, embodiments relate to an underwater application system for application of a streamer coating to a surface of a streamer. An embodiment may comprise a marine geophysical survey system. The marine geophysical survey system may comprise a streamer and an underwater application system operable to apply a streamer coating to the streamer as the underwater application system travels axially along the streamer.
DETECTING OBJECTS SUBMERGED IN A BODY OF WATER OR AT LEAST PARTLY BURIED IN A BED OF THE BODY OF WATER
The invention provides an apparatus (10, 14) for detecting objects that are submerged in a body of water or at least partly buried in a bed of the body of water. According to a first aspect, the apparatus comprises a support structure (16) adapted to be mounted to a remotely operated towed vehicle, ROTV (12), a plurality of acoustic transducers (27.x) mounted to the support structure (16), and at least one magnetic sensor (28.x) mounted to the support structure (16). According to a second aspect, the apparatus comprises a remotely operated towed vehicle, ROTV (12), the ROTV (12) comprising at least one control flap (38.x) operable to control a sub-surface depth of the ROTV (12) when the ROTV (12) is towed in the body of water, a support structure (16) mounted to the ROTV (12), and a plurality of acoustic transducers (27.x) mounted to the support structure (16). The invention further provides a method, a computer system, and a machine-readable medium.
Obtaining seismic data in areas covered with ice
The invention relates to a seismic streamer (1) for underwater towing at a towing speed in ice-free or wholly or partially icy water, the streamer (1) is provided with birds (2) spaced along the streamer, the streamer including the birds (2) has negative buoyancy, the birds have wings (8) which can be set so that the birds during movement in the water apply an upward or downward force on the streamer. The streamer (1) is provided with buoyant bodies (4) spaced along the streamer, the buoyant bodies are connected to the streamer by spacer elements (5), the streamer including the birds, the buoyant bodies with associated spacer elements and any other equipment together have positive buoyancy. The invention also relates to a corresponding method for securing a seismic streamer (1) from damage at a substantial reduction or cessation of towing speed when towing underwater in ice-free or wholly or partially icy water.
Collapsible fairing
A system can include a float, a winch, a line, and a collapsible fairing. The winch can be coupled to the float. The line can be associated with the winch, where the winch is configured to extend and retract the line. The collapsible fairing can surround the line. Extension and retraction of the line can cause the collapsible fairing to extend and collapse.
DEEP WATER HIGH RESOLUTION OBJECT DETECTION
A seabed object detection system is provided. The system can include a receiver array including streamers. The system can include a plurality of receivers coupled with the streamers. The system can include a receiver array cross-cable to couple with the first streamer and to couple with the second streamer. The receiver array cross-cable can be disposed at a first depth of a body of water. The system can include a first diverter and a second diverter coupled with the receiver array cross-cable. The system can include a source array including a first source and a second source. The source array can be coplanar to the receiver array. The system can include a source array cross-cable to couple with the first source and to couple with the second source, the source array cross-cable disposed at a second depth of the body of water.
TOWABLE SUBMERSIBLE DEVICE
A stable towable submersible device includes a rigid body that is towed at a positive pitch angle relative to the device's direction of motion. An acoustic projector housing extends vertically from the rigid body. When the rigid body rolls about its roll axis, which is tilted at the positive pitch angle, the acoustic projector rolls about the roll axis changing the acoustic projector's angle of attack relative to the direction of motion and generates a restoring force causing the acoustic projector to rotate back to a generally vertical orientation.
Automatic-opening fairlead and towing device comprising the fairlead
A fairlead that is intended to equip a towing device that can be installed on the deck of a ship and includes a winch, a cable passing through the fairlead under the action of the winch, the fairlead comprising: an open-section channel extending in a main direction for guiding the cable, a movable bolt closing a section of the channel, a force sensor that is situated in front of the bolt in one sense of the main direction and is configured to detect an external force, and a trigger configured to open the bolt when a force exerted on the sensor and oriented along the main axis in the sense exceeds a predetermined force, and to close the bolt when this force ceases.
SLIT FAIRING FOR TOWED MARINE EQUIPMENT
Apparatus and techniques are disclosed relating to towing marine equipment. In some embodiments, a vessel tows equipment through a body of water using a towing member with an associated fairing that includes a slit, such that an axis of the slit is non-perpendicular to a portion of the towing member from which the fairing extends.
Fairing and method
A fairing device and method for the reduction of vortex-induced vibrations or motions, the minimization of drag about a substantially cylindrical element immersed in a fluid medium, comprising; a fairing rotatably mounted about the cylindrical element, the fairing comprising a shell with a mainly cylindrical cross-sectional shape with an outer diameter (D) following the outer diameter of the cylindrical element from an upward stagnation point of 0 degrees to at least +/90 degrees, and which at +/90 degrees continues as two fin-like portions in an aft direction, further comprising that the fin-like portions are convexly curved aft of +/90 degrees thus tapering towards each other and defining a tail end opening or gap less than the fairing standoff height. A method for mounting, storage, and deployment of the fairing device is also disclosed.
