METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONVERTING WAVE MOTION TO USABLE ENERGY
The present disclosure provides a method and a device for converting the alternating motion produced by at least one float (202, 222) resting atop surface of a water body into unidirectional motion and converting that motion into usable energy. The method and device may be provided on a structure/vessel (206) or as the interface between the vessel and the water body surface. The vessel incorporating the device as such experiences a reduced effect of vertical perturbations from waves generated on the water body.
MOTION-STATE DEPENDENT OPERATION OF KINETIC GENERATOR ON A MARINE VESSEL OR PLATFORM
A motion-state dependent method for operating a kinetic generator on a marine vessels or platform includes determining a motion state of the marine vessels or platform, and imposing a limit on at least one of charging and discharging of the kinetic generator based upon the motion state to keep the kinetic generator within a safe operating range.
MODULAR FLOATING STRUCTURE AND METHOD OF CONSTRUCTION
A floating territory is made of at least two floatable building components having the shape of a prism with a regular polygon base, such as a triangle, a square, a pentagon, a hexagon, etc. combined with sliding dovetails and dovetail grooves for sliding attachment to neighboring construction elements. The attachments allow the floatable building components to slide vertically relative to each other, thereby permitting the floating territory to follow the upward and downward movement of the waves. A method of converting floating ocean waste into structures, in particular, floating territories is also provided.
Inertial hydrodynamic pump and wave engine
A buoyant hydrodynamic pump is disclosed that can float on a surface of a body of water over which waves tend to pass. The pump incorporates an open-bottomed tube with a constriction. The tube partially encloses a substantial volume of water with which the tube's constriction interacts, creating and/or amplifying oscillations therein in response to wave action. Wave-driven oscillations result in periodic upward ejections of portions of the water inside the tube that can be collected in a reservoir that is at least partially positioned above the mean water level of the body of water, or pressurized by compressed air or gas, or both. Water within such a reservoir may return to the body of water via a turbine, thereby generating electrical power (making the device a wave engine), or else the device's pumping action can be used for other purposes such as water circulation, propulsion, or cloud seeding.
Eccentrically Rotating Mass Turbine
A turbine comprises a shaft (20), a mass (10) eccentrically mounted for rotation about shaft (20), having its center of gravity at a distance from the shaft (20) and a motion base (15). Motion base (15) rigidly supports the shaft (20), and is configured for moving the shaft (20) in any direction of at least two degrees of movement freedom, except for heave.
A floating vessel-turbine (120), encloses entirely the eccentrically rotating mass (10) and the motion base (15). The turbine converts ocean wave energy into useful energy, very efficiently.
CURRENT POWER ENERGY SYSTEMS
A submersible device is provided herein. The submersible device may include a submersible hull, control fins, propeller fins, and a turbine device. The submersible hull may include a proximal end, an opposing distal end, a first sidewall and a second sidewall opposite the first sidewall. The sidewalls may be in between the proximal and distal ends of the hull. The control fins may extend from the submersible hull. At least one control fin extends from the first sidewall and at least one other control fin extends from the second sidewall. The propeller fins may extend from the submersible hull at the distal end. Each of the propeller fins may be connected to a rotor. The turbine device may be communicatively coupled to the rotor.
WAVE ENERGY THERMAL STORAGE TYPE SEAWATER THERMOELECTRIC POWER GENERATION DEVICE
A wave energy thermal storage type seawater thermoelectric power generation device which comprises a buoy-type energy capture system, a platform system and a mooring system. A whole friction liquid heating, thermal storage and power generation device is arranged inside a platform, which improves the adaptability of the whole system to the external environment. A flywheel and liquid friction heating method is adopted to generate heat more efficiently. Inner ratchets and pawls are used to control the movement of a flywheel so that the flywheel always rotates in one direction, and when the rotating speed of the flywheel exceeds that of the inner ratchets, the external wave energy cannot be transferred to the flywheel through the movement of the inner ratchets so as to limit the upper limit of the rotating speed of the flywheel and protect the safety of the flywheel system.
Float for connection to a swimmer in a wave powered vehicle
A float (1) suitable for use as a buoy or as a component for a wave-powered vehicle. The float (1) includes an upper member (12) whose height can be changed and/or which remained substantially vertical even when the float is in wave-bearing water. A low drag cable (2) suitable for use as a tether in a wave-powered vehicle has a streamlined cross-section and includes a tensile member (21) near the front of the cross-section, at least one non-load-bearing member (22) behind the tensile member, and a polymeric jacket (23). Wave-powered vehicles having a float (1), a submerged swimmer (3) and a tether (2) connecting the float and the swimmer, include a means for determining whether the tether is twisted; or a means (91) for untwisting the tether; or a pressure-sensitive connection (71, 72, 73) which can disconnect the tether when the vehicle is dragged downwards by entanglement with a whale; or a 2-axis universal joint securing the tether to the float or to the swimmer; or elastic elements which absorb snap loads created by the tether; or two or more of these.
LINEAR GENERATOR
A linear gearbox with a linear shaft reciprocating inside its casing. The linear shaft moves in a reciprocating manner. The output shaft is operationally coupled to the input shaft. With the use of two one-way locking mechanisms & a few gears, the reciprocating movements of the linear shaft can be converted into one-directional rotational motion of the output shaft. The output shaft of the linear gearbox can be connected to a generator and spin the generator in a uni-rotational direction and generate electricity with a minimum energy loss. The linear gearbox generator can be used to harvest energy from ocean waves. Ocean waves' energy can be harvested into a unidirectional rotational motion coupled with a generator, which generates electricity.
Ocean tidal current energy power generating system
An ocean tidal current energy power generating system, including a fixing mechanism, an ocean tidal current energy power generator set and a signal monitoring mechanism. The fixing mechanism includes floating bodies, fixing rods, horizontal supporting rods, and a working platform; the floating bodies are fixed to seabed by means of anchor chains; the fixing rods are fixed to the floating bodies; the horizontal supporting rods and the working platform are respectively fixed to underwater portions of the fixing rods and overwater portions of the fixing rods. The power generator set includes underwater assemblies and an overwater assembly. Each underwater assembly includes blades, a hub, a main shaft, a gear box, a coupling, a power generator, a stern cabin and a yawing mechanism, successively connected to each other; a variable pitch mechanism is disposed in the hub.
