The third support ring has a third maximum outer diameter greater than the nominal outer diameter.

COVER CAP WITH FITTED GASKET DESIGNED FOR SEALING A METALLIC BOTTLE

Disclosed is a metallic cover cap for sealing a metallic bottle, comprising a gasket provided with a flat central zone and an annular zone which includes an outer rim and an inner rim that are separated by a notch, such that the outer rim extends axially, continues circumferentially, and includes: a first surface; a second surface with a flat portion and a concave portion radially opposite the notch; and a third flat surface that extends between the first and second surfaces, and the inner rim extends axially, continues circumferentially and spaced radially inwards of the first rim, and includes: a first flat surface opposite and perpendicular to the flat zone; a second concave surface radially opposite the notch; and a third flat surface between the first and second surfaces that is inclined toward the notch.

Method for manufacturing cap

A method for manufacturing a cap, which can insert a sheet member easily into a predetermined position of an upper part inside a cap body, without causing deformation to the sheet member or the cap body. The sheet member does not separate when a container is brought to reduced pressure. An annular protruding portion protruding on a lower surface side is formed in an annular flat region of a sheet member of an inside plug. After or at the same time that the sheet member is inserted into and installed at a predetermined position within a cap body, the annular protruding portion is pressed axially toward a top panel wall and deformed so as to become close to a flat shape, to enlarge the outer diameter of the sheet member. The inside plug is thereby held to be inseparable from inside a skirt wall and to be axially movable.

An assembly comprises a container with a neck and a tamper-evident closure coupled with the neck. The neck has a projection with a neck and a ramp. The closure comprises a skirt with two portions engaged with the groove and the ramp. The skirt may be rotated relative to the neck to enlarge its diameter and disengage the skirt from the neck.

APPARATUS AND METHODS OF FORMING AND APPLYING ROLL-ON PILFER PROOF CLOSURES ON THE THREADED NECK OF METAL CONTAINERS

Methods and apparatus for sealing a threaded container are provided. More specifically, the present invention relates to a ROPP closure with a novel pilfer band that may be used to seal a bottle shaped container without pressing directly against the bottle or deforming the bottle. The bottle includes an annular ring that is novel. Optionally, the annular ring can be formed without die necking or expanding the bottle neck. At least one protrusion which extends inwardly at least partially into the bottle annular ring is formed on the ROPP closure after the ROPP closure is positioned on the bottle neck. In one embodiment, the ROPP closure includes one inwardly oriented protrusion which extends around the circumference of the ROPP closure. The protrusion can be formed by a roller. Optionally, the protrusion has a substantially uniform depth. In another embodiment, the ROPP closure includes a plurality of individuals studs which each extend at least partially into the bottle annular ring. The individual studs can be formed by one or more of a punch, a stud roller, a studded rail, a collet actuated tool, and a cam actuated tool of embodiments of the present invention.

A sealing assembly for a closure is disclosed where the closure is for applying to an opening. The sealing assembly includes a substantially rigid cap portion for seating the sealing assembly in a roof portion of the closure and an insert portion attachable to the cap portion. The insert portion includes a flexible skirt portion extending from the insert portion and operable to contact an inner wall region of the opening on application of the closure to the opening. In one embodiment, the sealing assembly is for closures for sealing bottles of sparkling wine and the like.

CAP ASSEMBLY HAVING INSIDE SEAL

A seal and method of forming a seal for a resealable container includes a removable cap that is selectively received over a pour opening formed in a can body. A seal is adhered to the end wall of the cap and includes a continuous, first axial region extending outwardly from the inner surface of the cap. The seal first region is dimensioned for engagement with the opening in the container and sealing the container along an inner diameter thereof. Reduced on-torque/off-torque are required since the seal is formed on the inner diameter, and a down force is substantially reduced to assemble the cap to the container.

A tamper evident closure (100) for containers having a threaded neck and a locking shoulder. The closure has a top (102) and an annular skirt (104) defining a cavity (105). The skirt has an upper portion (106) having threads (110) projecting into the cavity (105) for engaging the threaded neck, a lower portion (108) having a tuck ring (114), and a peripheral slit (112) between the upper portion and the lower portion. The peripheral slit (112) is interrupted by a plurality of hinge bridges (116), a plurality of pairs of sacrificial bridges (118) spaced from one another by a gap (120), and a plurality of vertical splits (124). One of each split (124) is in registration with a respective gap (120). The sacrificial bridges (118) and the tuck ring (114) break upon removal of the closure to divide the tuck ring into segments (126) between the vertical splits (124). The segments bend radially outward along the hinge bridges by a camming action on the locking shoulder on removal of the entire closure from the container.
