Measurement apparatus for measuring a specific gravity of a liquid, and saltwater aquarium salinity control system
11464215 · 2022-10-11 ·

A specific gravity measurement apparatus has a specific gravity hydrometer that carries a codestrip at the top. A linear optical encoder is disposed to view the codestrip and to output electronic signals that are indicative of a movement of the codestrip relative to said encoder. The movement is indicative of a change in the specific gravity of the liquid, such as a change in a salinity of the aquarium water in which the hydrometer floats. The measurement apparatus may be incorporated into a saltwater aquarium salinity control system where an electronic controller uses the measurement inputs to control a plurality of pumps for selectively adding saltwater or freshwater to the aquarium water in order to control the salinity of the water at a given setpoint level.

Periodic and automated water change device having a configurable water change schedule
11464214 · 2022-10-11 ·

A water change system comprises a water change device that performs automated water changes. The water change device automatically drains an amount of water needing replacement from a reservoir and replenishes the reservoir with a predetermined amount of clean water. The water change device comprises a reservoir port, an output port, an input port, a controller, and an enclosure. In a draining mode, water is pumped from the reservoir, through the reservoir port and into a drain or output tank via the output port. In the reservoir filling mode, clean water from an input tank or water source is pumped into the input port of the water change device and to the reservoir via the reservoir port. The water change device automatically performs water changes in accordance with a water change schedule or in response to user input. The water change device is configurable via a touch display or remotely.

Circulating water system for intensive aquaculture
11622545 · 2023-04-11 ·

The circulating water system for intensive aquaculture disclosed herein includes a submersible pump, an outlet tube, an outer casing tube and a deflector plate. The submersible pump is adapted for being mounted on the bottom of an aquaculture pool at a position close to the circumferential wall. The outlet tube has a tapered section sleeved onto a discharge port, while the outer casing tube is sheathed outside the outlet tube. The deflector plate is mounted laterally to the submersible pump, such that when the submersible pump is pumping water from the aquaculture pool through the discharge port, the deflector plate acts to guide the discharged water approach the circumferential wall, thereby generating a circulating swirling flow rotating in tangential direction along the circumferential wall.

SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR OCEANIC CARBON DIOXIDE AND CLIMATE MANAGEMENT, ALGAL FOSTERING, AND INITIATION AND MAINTENANCE OF FISHERIES BY DEEP WATER PUMPING

A system for causing an upwelling to create a fishery without altering thermoclines in a body of water, having: an electric pump housed in a floating buoy; and a heat exchanger hose having a plurality of protrusions; wherein the heat exchanger hose and the electric pump are configured to pump nutrient-rich water from a first depth of the body of water to a second depth of the body of water closer to a surface of the body of water than the first depth; wherein the plurality of protrusions is configured for transferring heat from surrounding waters to the pumped water; and wherein the system releases the pumped water only when it is warmed to around the ambient water temperature of the second depth of the body of water, such that the pumped water remains at the second depth without immediately sinking back down to the first depth.

Engineered recirculating aquaculture fish pond and fish culture method

An engineered recirculating aquaculture fish pond and a fish culture method are provided. The engineered recirculating aquaculture fish pond is simple to operate, has strong adaptability to different culture environments or culture varieties, and is not only suitable for large-scale aquaculture enterprises but also suitable for small-scale farmers. An aeration water lifting device is designed to simultaneously perform aeration and drainage, which can reduce the use of electric equipment, decrease the production and maintenance cost, improve the cost performance of single equipment, and save the internal use space of the pond. Nozzles are arranged in more than two directions, which is convenient for performing aeration in different directions, uniformly dispersing impurities carried in water in a deep ditch, intercepting to reduce local blockage, improving a single utilization rate of an intercept structure, and preventing heavier impurities from accumulating at a channel bottom of the deep ditch.

Variable flow spout for an aquarium

An aquarium includes a container that contains a liquid. A spout includes a first leg that extends along a first axis from an inlet positioned in a bottom portion of the aquarium space to a bend, and a second leg that extends along a second axis from a flow aperture formed adjacent the bend to an outlet. The spout is arranged to direct a portion of the liquid from the inlet to the outlet. A cap is coupled to the spout and is rotatable between a first position and a second position. The cap includes a seal element positioned to form a seal between the cap and the spout, and a flow control member fixedly attached to the cap and sized to completely block the flow aperture when the cap is in the first position and to completely uncover the flow aperture when the cap is in the second position.

WATER OXYGENATION SYSTEM AND METHOD TO IMPROVE THE EFFICACY AND UTILIZATION OF FISH SLIDES AND LADDERS

There is provided a system and method for managing fish migration in a body of water in the vicinity of an artificial or natural barrier. The system including a source of saturated water, where the saturated water is water having a dissolved gas level that is higher than that in the body of water. The system also includes outlets in fluid communication with the source of saturated water, each outlet being positioned at a predetermined position in the body of water to eject the saturated water into the predetermined position. The system further includes a pump in fluid communication with the source of saturated water and the outlets for moving the saturated water from the source to the one or more outlets, wherein flow of the saturated water into the body of water raises the dissolved gas level at the predetermined positions, thereby drawing the fish towards the predetermined positions.
