Insulated shipping container with rabbet-joint side panels and the procedure for making the same. The insulated shipping container consists of an outer box and six insulated panels. The outer box is made of corrugated fiberboard. The insulated panels are made of expanded polystyrene foam with a thickness of at least 2 inches. The panels are cut with a hotwire machine and the rabbet-joint design locks the side panels in place, which gives the insulated container superb structural and thermal integrity. The box is assembled with a specific H-shape taping and the six panels are inserted to form the insulated container. The invention is the first to meet the packaging requirements of postal carriers and their insurance underwriters. The cost-effective manufacturing process allows for multiple container sizes without additional setup expense, which lowers the cost of shipping affected by dimensional weight versus actual rate shipping rates by the carriers.

Nested insulated packaging

A nested insulated packaging assembly comprising an outer box and a thermal liner. The outer box includes an outer top side wall, an outer bottom side wall, and a plurality of outer lateral side walls. The thermal liner includes a terminal top end, a bend line, a top fold defined between the terminal top end and the bend line, and a back fold. The top fold is foldable relative to the back fold at the bend line. The back fold contacts one of the outer lateral side walls of the outer box. The thermal liner includes a thermal control material extending across the bend line.

A thermal insulation article for placement in a shipping container to hold an item includes a multi-section thermally insulating pad shaped to be positioned in a cavity of a rectangular prism shipping container. The pad includes a plurality of solid compostable panel sections formed primarily of grain starch, and a water-proof polyethylene film forming a pocket enclosing the plurality of panel sections. Each panel section holds together as a single unit, and each panel section provides a rectangular plate dimensioned to substantially span whichever of the floor, plurality of side walls or cover that the rectangular plate is adjacent. The pad is configured to be foldable at a right angle along a boundary between the panel sections. The film provides both an interior and an exterior surface of the pad where the pad is folded.

Pallet cover comprising one or more temperature-control members and kit for use in making the pallet cover

A pallet cover suitable for use in covering at least a portion of a payload on a pallet and a kit for use in making the pallet cover. In one embodiment, the pallet cover includes a top wall, a front wall, a rear wall, a left side wall, and a right side wall, wherein the walls are detachably joined to one another. Each of the top wall, the front wall, the rear wall, the left side wall, and the right side wall includes a first fabric sheet and a second fabric sheet, the first and second fabric sheets being joined together to form a plurality of pockets. Each pocket may removably receive a temperature-control member containing a phase-change material. At least one of the top wall, the front wall, the rear wall, the left side wall and the right side wall includes a plurality of detachably joined portions.
