Container for producing a beverage capsule and capsule thereof
A container for producing a beverage capsule containing a beverage ingredient has a formed laminated structure including a cup portion with a depth-to-width ratio of at least 0.3 and a peripheral flange. The laminated structure contains an aluminium foil as a middle layer and also contains a sealing layer on the inner side of the aluminium foil. The laminated structure also includes at least one outer polymer film laminated on the outer side of the aluminium foil using a laminating adhesive layer, and the outer polymer film is printed at its inner surface and is made of semi-crystalline polymer.
Scoop and Level
A scoop and level for scooping a portion of granulated material and leveling the contents of the scoop. The scoop may have a volume suitable for brewing a single serving of brewed beverage, and in particular, for brewing a single serving of espresso. The lever is attached to the scoop and slides over the scoop to displace excess material, thus providing a desired amount material for precessing, for example, for preparing a beverage. A scoop handle may further include a tamper opposite to the scoop. The tamper may be used to tamp brewing material after scooping, leveling, and pouring the brewing material into a holder.
CAPSULE CONTAINING BEVERAGE POWDER, IN PARTICULAR FOR PREPARING BREWED COFFEE
A capsule, especially for preparing a beverage from beverage powder, in particular of coffee from coffee powder, by introducing water into the capsule, wherein the capsule comprises a compacted pellet made of a powder containing at least one polysaccharide, wherein the compacted pellet is sheathed with at least one coating layer, wherein the at least one coating layer comprises a cross-linked polysaccharide, wherein the cross-linked polysaccharide can be obtained by cross-linking a polysaccharide with a cross-linking agent without the use of a polyol spacer.
A method for manufacturing such a capsule comprises the following steps: i) preparing a compacted pellet from a powder containing at least one polysaccharide, ii) bringing at least one part and preferably the entire surface of the compacted pellet used in step i) into contact with a solution of a polysaccharide in a solvent or with a dispersion of a polysaccharide in a dispersant, iii) when appropriate, removing of the compacted pellet from the solution or dispersion of step ii), iv) bringing the compacted pellet obtained in step ii) or iii) into contact with at least one cross-linking agent, v) when appropriate, removing the compacted pellet from the solution of step iv) and vi) drying of the compacted pellet obtained in step iv) or v).
RAPIDLY COOLING FOOD AND DRINKS
Systems and methods have demonstrated the capability of rapidly cooling the contents of pods containing the ingredients for food and drinks.
PORTION CAPSULE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A PORTION CAPSULE
A portion capsule having a base element for receiving an extraction product, and a method for producing the portion capsule. The portion capsule has a bottom region and a circumferential side wall, wherein the bottom region and the circumferential side wall form an interior space. At least the circumferential side wall includes a cellulose-based sheet and is formed by a full winding of the cellulose-based sheet about a base element axis.
COMPOSTABLE OXYGEN BARRIER COMPRISING A BIODEGRADABLE POLYMER MATRIX AND BIOCARBON
A biodegradable composite comprising a polymeric matrix including but not limited to poly lactide (PLA), poly (butylene succinate) 20 (PBS), poly(butylene succinate adipate) (PBSA), including bio-based PBSA (BioPBSA), poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT), polycaprolactone (PCL), polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA(s)), poly(3-hydroxy)butyrate (PHB), poly(3-hydroxy-butyrate-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV), copolyester of the monomers 1.4-butanediol, adipic acid and terephthalic acid (Ecoflex™) and polypropylene carbonate (PPC), and biocarbon, a.k.a. biochar or pyrolyzed biomass as a sustainable filler. The biodegradable composite achieves high oxygen barrier with balanced water barrier. Also, a method of manufacturing the biodegradable composite and articles of manufacturing comprising the biodegradable composite. The articles of manufacturing have application in limiting gas permeation into a package and extending shelf life of a material.
SYSTEM, DISPOSABLE CARTRIDGE, AND METHOD FOR THE PREPARATION OF A LIQUID PRODUCT
A system for the preparation of a liquid product comprises a disposable cartridge filled with a single serve portion of a liquid ingredient to be combined with a base liquid for the preparation of a liquid product. Further the system comprises a dispensing apparatus with a pressurized gas source, wherein the apparatus is adapted to bring said pressurized gas source in direct communication with the reservoir of the disposable cartridge so as to allow said liquid ingredient therein to be pressurized by said gas thereby assisting the dispensing thereof from the reservoir via said one or more dispensing passages. The system is adapted to create one or more openings in said portion of the sealing film that covers the reservoir. The dispensing apparatus further comprises a pressurization dome member having a peripheral gas seal adapted to sealingly engage the disposable cartridge around a location where said one or more openings are created in said sealing film and the pressurized gas source is connected to said dome member and is adapted to feed pressurized gas beneath said dome member within the contour of the peripheral gas seal sealingly engaging the disposable cartridge, so as to allow said liquid ingredient in said reservoir to be pressurized by said gas via the one or more openings in said sealing film, thereby assisting the dispensing of the liquid ingredient from the reservoir via said one or more dispensing passages.
BEVERAGE CARTRIDGE
A beverage cartridge and method for forming a beverage cartridge. An outer cup may be made of paper and a polymer liner provided at the inner space of the cup. The liner may define an interior space that is closed by a lid, and the liner and lid may be impervious to moisture and gases, e.g., to protect a beverage material in the interior space. A filter may be attached to the liner and/or lid, and the liner may be peelably removable from the cup. The liner, filter and/or lid may be removable together from the cup.
Apparatus and method for processing cups
An apparatus (1) for processing cups (2), adapted to be filled with coffee or other products, whether solid or liquid, and to be closed with respective lids to form corresponding capsules, comprises: a plurality of pockets (50) for housing the cups (2); an infeed station (4) for receiving the cups (2) and placing them in respective pockets (50) of the plurality of pockets (50); at least one tool (31) for applying a process to a rear face (23B) of an annular flange (23) of a cup (2) housed a respective pocket (50), to form a sealing profile (230); an outfeed station (6) configured to release the cups (2) with the sealing profile (230) formed on them.
