Systems, methods and apparatus for in-service tank inspections

Systems, methods and apparatuses for inspecting a tank containing a flammable fluid are provided. The system includes a vehicle having a propeller, a latch mechanism, a pressure switch, and an inspection device. The system includes a control unit in communication with the propeller, the latch mechanism, and the inspection device, and electrically connected to the pressure switch. The control unit powers on responsive to the pressure switch detecting an ambient pressure greater than a minimum threshold. The control unit receives, from the latch mechanism, an indication of a state of the latch mechanism. The control unit determines that the cable used to lower the vehicle into the tank containing the flammable fluid is detached from the vehicle. The control unit commands the propeller to move the vehicle through the flammable fluid. The control unit determines a quality metric of a portion of the tank.

Low profile transportable holding tank
11891239 · 2024-02-06 · ·

A low profile holding tank-evacuable to a pressure differential of at least about 10 of mercury that includes a plurality of support structures, a peripheral wall, an upper outer layer of mild steel and a lower outer layer of mild steel, each of the upper outer layer and the lower outer layer is configured to be up to about inches thick. At least some of the plurality of support structures are required to be fixedly connected to upper and lower outer layers to prevent damages incurred on the low profile holding tank by repeated applications of the pressure differential of at least about 10 of mercury. At least some of the connections are required to be made from the outside of the tank via a welding, e.g., plug welding, technique.

Systems, methods and apparatus for in-service tank inspections

Systems, methods and apparatuses for inspecting a tank containing a flammable fluid are provided. A vehicle configured to inspect the tank can include a propeller, a battery, a control unit, an inspection device, and a ranging device. The battery provides power to the propeller, the control unit, the inspection device, and the ranging device. The control unit generates a map of the tank. The control unit determines a first position of the vehicle on the map of the tank. The propeller moves the vehicle through the flammable fluid in the tank. The inspection device determines a quality metric of a portion of the tank. The control unit causes the propeller to move the vehicle from the first position to a second position within the tank. The control unit determines the quality metric for the portion of the tank at the second position within the tank, and stores the quality metric.

Dual purpose unrefined/refined petroleum intermodal tank container
20190375582 · 2019-12-12 ·

A dual-purpose tank container is provided, designed for transporting unrefined or refined petroleum, together with a transportation process optimized to utilize available weight limits of transportation means and eliminate unproductive deadheading. The tank container includes inner tank and outer insulation shell, the inner tank being equipped with one or two diaphragms so that a fluid, for example crude oil or gasoline, can fully occupy inner space without risk of contamination from a residual fluid.

Portable asphalt emulsion storage system
10494172 · 2019-12-03 · ·

Disclosed is a portable storage system for asphalt and other like material that is required to be maintained at a particular constant heated temperature even in sub-zero ambient temperatures. The system may include an exterior covering over a frame to define an enclosure. The frame defines an interior space where an insulated tank resides. The tank is heated. The interior of the enclosure may be heated. Rails provided along a vertical surface of the enclosure and extending above the roof of the enclosure allow the entire system to be loaded as a roll-off load on a truck. A plurality of lugs with apertures therethrough extend beyond the exterior surface of the enclosure to enable the enclosure to be lifted by cranes and tied down during transport.

Portable vertical fluid storage tank

A vertical fluid storage tank including a body extending from a first end to a second end and including a substantially oval-shaped cross-section, a top wall connected to the first end of the body, a bottom wall connected to the second end of the body, at least one access opening positioned on the top wall configured for access to an interior cavity of the body, and at least one discharge valve connected to the body. The storage tank is configured to be arranged in at least two positions. The at least two positions include a first position in which the storage tank is arranged parallel to a surface, and a second position in which the storage tank is arranged perpendicular to the surface. A walkway may be positioned in the interior cavity of the body.

Tank overhead line liquid backflow restriction device
10480668 · 2019-11-19 ·

A device for restricting liquid backflow through an overhead line on a tank and a method of using the device are provided. The device has a tubular housing with spaced internal baffle plates. The device is secured in place in the interior of an overhead pipe on the top of a tank on a tank truck or other vehicle used for transporting bulk liquid cargo. The device prevents liquid backflow from entering overhead piping due to sloshing action of the liquid during transport. The device allows air to flow through the device so that air may be supplied to the tank, as well as vented from the tank, through the device.

Hydraulic walking mud/shaker tank system

A walking mud handling system may include a walking mud tank and a plurality of hydraulic walkers coupled to the walking mud tank. Each hydraulic walker may include a walking foot, a hydraulic lift, and a sliding actuator. The hydraulic lift may include a hydraulic cylinder coupled to the walking foot such that extension of the hydraulic cylinder extends the walking foot into contact with the ground. The sliding actuator may include one or more hydraulic cylinders coupled to the walking foot such that extension of the sliding actuator moves the walking foot laterally relative to the hydraulic lift.

Heated tailgate device
11958680 · 2024-04-16 ·

This disclosure is directed toward a heated tailgate for use in cold climates. The heated tailgate may be used with a self-contained heated portable vacuum slurry box. The slurry box generally includes a vacuum tank, a structure attached to the tank, a vertical tailgate, and a hook for pulling the slurry box onto a vehicle. The heated tailgate provides that the slurry cuttings within the slurry box which are adjacent to the tailgate do not freeze and provides for a way in which the tailgate may seal to the vacuum box.
