A peripheral groove is defined by a bottom surface, an upper side surface, and a lower side surface, and, in at least one of the upper side surface and the lower side surface, a radially outer end edge of an end portion positioned at a circumferential end portion of a panel surface portion is further away in a bottle axis direction from the bottom surface toward an adjacent corner surface portion when viewed from the outside in the radial direction.

PLASTIC CONTAINER WITH VARYING DEPTH RIBS

A bottle may have varying depth ribs to achieve a balance of strength and rigidity while maintaining hoop strength. The varying depth ribs may smoothly transition around the circumference of the bottle from a flattened and/or shallow depth rib portion to a deep rib portion. A collection of flattened and/or shallow depth ribs act as recessed columns in the body of the bottle to resist bending, leaning, crumbling, and/or stretching. The deep rib portions provide hoop strength and make the bottle body more rigid and/or stiffer when gripped by a user. A balance may be achieved between of flattened and/or shallow depth ribs and deep ribs to attain a desired resistance to bending, leaning, and/or stretching while maintaining stiffness in a lightweight bottle.

Container with recessed base and concave rib

A container including a body having a base defining a closed end, a finish defining an opposite open end, and a sidewall between the base and finish. The base includes a support surface defining a reference plane and a contoured base recess extending inwardly from the support surface to a maximum base recess height “h.sub.brmax” from the plane. The sidewall includes a concave rib extending circumferentially around the body. A center of the rib is disposed at a rib height “h.sub.r” from the plane. The ratio “h.sub.brmax:h.sub.r” is between 1:3 and 1:5. The rib includes a radiused transition surface extending from the base to an angled inner surface and having a radius of curvature “r.sub.1” of at least 0.10 inches. The angled inner surface has an angle “a” relative to the plane of between 28 and 80 degrees. A method and mold assembly for making the container are also provided.

DELAMINATION CONTAINER

A delamination container formed by blow molding a preform assembly includes: an outer layer body including a tubular outer mouth portion and a bottomed tubular barrel portion; an inner layer body including a tubular inner mouth portion fixed to an inner side of the outer mouth portion, and a containing portion separably laminated on an inner surface of the barrel portion and capable of volume-reduction deformation; an outside air introduction port; and a plurality of protrusions integrally provided in an upper end part of the barrel portion at intervals in a circumferential direction centering on an axial center of the outer mouth portion, the plurality of protrusions each projecting from an outer surface of the barrel portion and being recessed with respect to the inner surface of the barrel portion.

A bottle includes a finish defining a bottle opening, a bell carrying the finish, a base, a central axis extending from the finish to the base, a sidewall extending between the bell and the base, and at least two grooves that circumferentially extend around the sidewall and spaced apart relative to the central axis, the grooves being circumferentially offset from one another.

Swirl bell bottle with wavy ribs

An apparatus is provided for a container comprising a base, a bell, a sidewall between the base and the bell, a neck and a finish which define an opening to an interior of the container, and a shoulder between the sidewall and the bell. Strap ribs extend from a central portion of the base and terminate at the sidewall. The strap ribs cooperate with vertically aligned recessed columns of the sidewall to resist bending, leaning, crumbling, or stretching along the sidewall and the base. An inwardly offset portion of the sidewall is disposed between each pair of adjacent recessed columns. The inwardly offset portions of the sidewall are configured to resist outward bowing of the sidewall due to internal pressure of contents within the container.

Container base including hemispherical actuating diaphragm

A container including a finish defining an opening at a first end of the container that provides access to an internal volume defined by the container. A base portion of the container includes a diaphragm that is concave relative to an exterior of the container. The diaphragm extends from a standing surface of the container to a center push-up portion of the base portion. The standing surface is at a second end of the container opposite to the first end. The diaphragm is configured to move from an as-blown first configuration to a second configuration in which the diaphragm is closer to the first end as compared to the first configuration in order to reduce residual vacuum within the container. The diaphragm is generally hemispherical in cross-section when in the second configuration.

BOTTLE ASSEMBLY

A 1-gallon bottle with a carry-handle. The bottle includes a plurality of selectively reinforced panels that distribute a top load through a top portion and a body portion of the bottle and into a base portion. The top portion can include a top panel having a plurality of radially oriented grooves. The body portion can include a back panel, a lower back panel, first and second label panels, first and second side panels, first and second front panels, and a center panel. Each of the panels can be connected with adjacent panels along interconnecting edges or corners. Certain of the panels (e.g., larger panels) can be selectively reinforced, while certain other panels can remain unreinforced. The back panel can include a concave portion to allow a user to easily grip the carry-handle.
