The present disclosure relates to systems, devices, and methods for retaining fish bait. A fish bait retainer provided as part of the disclosed systems, devices, and methods includes a plurality of fish bait retaining features. The fish bait retaining features can be in the form of structural features, such as through holes, blind holes, and grooves. The fish bait retainer can also include surface properties or features that facilitate the retention of fish bait. The fish bait retainer can be securely connected to a fishhook by placing a shank of the fishhook a through hole provided in the fish bait retainer. The fish bait retainer can be used with liquid, gel, or paste type fish bait.

A device for baiting a fishhook including a fishing lure case arranged to clamp onto a fishing line, and a pair of hooks extending from and integral with the fishing lure case, the pair of hooks arranged adjacent and parallel to one another, each of the hooks having a bend and barb where the bend and barb of each hook are in spaced apart registration with one another, the pair of hooks joined by a member having a trough therein arranged to hold the fishing line.

A live-crustacean holding fishing device and methods of making it are disclosed. The device includes a clasp attached to a long shank fishing hook. The clasp has a shell grasping portion at one end and is attached to tubular stretchable hook-casing at the other. The hook-casing has an attached ring tab. A live crustation is attached by fitting the shell grasping portion of the clasp between the carapace and first segment of the abdomen, then stretching the hook-casing so that the ring tab fits over the shrimp's horn. This secures the live crustation to the hook, but allows it to live and swim freely thereby serving as a live lure. The clasp is either glued to, or molded around, the shank of the hook. The hook-casing is secured to the clasp either by an adhesive or by lateral openings that fit over lateral protrusions on the clasp.

A fishhook holder 10 is configured to hold a fishhook against a soft lure and is made of a resin material, and includes a base 20 configured to contact an outer surface of the soft lure and a tapered shaft 30 protruding from the base 20 and configured to extend through the soft lure. The shaft 30 includes a basal end 30a coupled to the base 20, a distal end 30b opposite the basal end 30a in an axial direction of the shaft 30, an insertion hole 31 located between the basal end 30a and the distal end 30b and configured such that the fishhook extends through the insertion hole 31, and a mark 33 located between the insertion hole 31 and the distal end 30b and indicating a reference position in a case where a portion including the distal end 30b is cut off from the shaft 30.

An apparatus for attaching a fishing hook to a bait or lure has a base having a flat bottom surface. The bottom surface has slots on opposed sides and an opening. A post is attached to or is formed with the base and extends perpendicularly to the surface. The post has a tapered end opposed to the base and at least one opening therein for disposing a fishing hook. The at least one opening comprises overlapping circular apertures. The apertures are arranged to enable passage therethrough of the fishing hook only when a barbed end thereof is aligned with an axis connecting centers of the apertures.

The present subject matter discloses systems and methods for a fishing rig related to hover strolling techniques. Specifically, the rig disclosed herein includes a rig body, an eyelet, and a hook. The rig body includes a first end and a second end. The eyelet is located on the rig body spaced from the first end and extends in a first direction. The hook extends from the second end of the rig body and includes a proximal end and a distal end. The distal end extends from the rig body in the first direction.

Fishing jigs designed and configured to firmly hold natural worms during use. In some embodiments, a fishing jig includes a head, a shaft that tapers away from the head, and an impaler that pierces the entire thickness of the body wall of a worm. The cross-sectional size of the shaft proximate to the impaler is selected so that the body wall of the worm is taut when the worm is fully engaged with the fishing jig. In some embodiments, the impaler is angled toward the head of the fishing jig at an angle of 45 or less. In some embodiments, the fishing jig further includes a bumper on its bottom to assist with inhibiting a worm engaged with the fishing jig from catching on underwater objects.
