A sealing mechanism for a waste storage container includes a waste storage container that has a body, a lid and a cartridge adapted to be positioned in the body. The cartridge has a continuous length of storage film therein. The storage film emanates through a gap between a rim and a core tube of the cartridge and is folded down through a core opening in the core tube into an interior space of the body of the waste storage container. The sealing mechanism includes an actuator accessible from outside the body, a gear assembly operably connected to the actuator, a retaining assembly that holds stationary a dispensed portion of the storage film in the interior space of the body during a twist-closure operation, and a plunger operably connected to the gear assembly

Collapsible Waste Receptacle

A collapsible waste receptacle is disclosed with front and rear frame pieces generally defining an exterior boundary. The waste receptacle is configured to move between an expanded and a collapsed configuration. In the expanded configuration, a bottom frame piece may be attached to both the front frame piece and the rear frame piece to define at least a lower portion of the exterior boundary of the receptacle, and a top surface may contact the front frame piece and the rear frame piece. To transition to the collapsed configuration, the bottom frame piece may disconnect and rotate to generally vertical orientation within the exterior boundary of the receptacle. The top surface may rotate around a frame piece to generally vertical orientation outside the exterior boundary. The front and rear frame pieces may move towards each other to define a collapsed configuration, e.g. assisted by the inward folding of remaining side panels.

Tableware retriever apparatus

Metal tableware articles are separated from trash as the trash is deposited into a trash container through a removable cover having brackets supporting a shaft of a magnetic bar assembly for rotation on a horizontal axis. The shaft is rotated from outside the cover by an axially movable rotatable pin having a knob on its outer end and extending through the side wall of the cover for releasably engaging one end of the shaft. When the knob and pin are retracted axially, the bar assembly may be lowered from the cover for cleaning. The bar assembly has axially spaced magnetic plate units each having a pair of generally triangular metal plates with flat corner surfaces and with a panel of magnetic material of the same shape sandwiched between the plates. The bar assembly is spaced above the bottom surface of the cover for protection of the bar assembly.
