The reel assembly includes a housing and a spool positioned within the housing and configured to (a) rotate about an axis to retrieve or let out a fishing line and (b) translate along the axis to adjust a drag, the spool including an inner volume. The reel assembly further includes a spindle disposed within the inner volume of the spool and having a first end and a second end, the first end of the spindle engaged with the spool, a drive mechanism configured to receive an input torque from a user and provide an output torque to the spool, and a lever assembly configured to receive a user input and translate the spool along the axis towards a second end of the reel to adjust the drag.

A fishing rod assembly includes a rod and a reel assembly. The lever assembly configured to receive a user input and translate the spool along the axis towards a second end of the reel to adjust the drag.

An automatic media integrated fishing reel for automating reel in, capturing video, and providing entertainment includes a reel housing having a removable top having a line aperture extending through to an inner cavity. A base is coupled to the reel housing and is configured to attach to a fishing pole. A line spool is coupled within the inner cavity and is configured to receive a fishing line. A motor is coupled to the line spool to wind and unwind the fishing line on the line spool. A power source is coupled within the inner cavity and is in operational communication with the motor. A plurality of control buttons is in operational communication with the motor. A video recorder is coupled to the reel housing. A CPU is in operational communication with each of the motor, the power source, the plurality of control buttons, and the video recorder.

A dual-bearing reel configured to feed a fishing line forward is disclosed. The dual-bearing reel includes a reel body and a handle. The reel body has a first side plate, a second side plate, and a connecting portion. The first side plate includes a circular portion having a circular shape, and a bulging portion bulging forward and downward from the circular portion. The second side plate is circular and disposed apart from the first side plate. The connecting portion connects the first side plate and the second side plate. The handle is rotatably mounted on the first side plate. A first central axis of the circular portion of the first side plate is offset forward and downward from a second central axis of the second side plate.

A dual-bearing reel for casting a fishing line in a forward direction includes a first side plate on a first side, a second side plate on a second side, a rod mounting portion, a front cover and a handle. The second side plate is apart from the first side plate in a lateral direction so as to form a space therebetween. The rod mounting portion is disposed between the first side plate and the second side plate. The front cover has a distal end portion, and covers the space between the first side plate and the second side plate from a front. The handle disposed on the first side. The center of the distal end portion of the front cover in the lateral direction is positioned toward the first side relative to a center of the rod mounting portion in the lateral direction.

A cover for the end of a fishing reel provides a user with a clean and attractive cover for scratches and other damage. Several versions are described: a first cover which replaces an insert and a second which covers the entire end of the reel. The cover is opaque such that it hides scratches and is easily removed or replaced with another cover.
