A container for storing and preserving fishing bait. The container is specially designed for live bait, especially water-based bait. The container and certain embodiments can be worn along the waist of a fisherman. In the number of embodiments the container stores an aerator to supply oxygen to the water and preserve the water-based bait contained within. The container frequently includes a cover unit allowing a fisherman to insert his or her hand into the container to withdraw a bait while keeping the remaining bait inside of the container.

In addition, the bait bucket includes a regulator coupled between the air canister and the air hose. The regulator is configured to provide a controlled release of compressed air from the air canister to the bait compartment via the air hose in an amount required to aerate the water for the live bait contained therein without using electrical power.

A nonelectric aerated bait bucket includes an outer casing housing a bait compartment. The bait compartment is configured to hold water and live bait. The bait bucket also includes a bait retrieval door disposed on a top of the bait compartment, an air canister coupled to the outer casing configured to hold compressed air, and an air hose. A portable bait tube system integrated into a compact, self-contained system that merely requires a simple electrical connection to function when submerged within a body of water. A submersible DC powered pump has a water inlet and a water outlet connected in fluid communication with an inlet of a manifold, the manifold further including a plurality of upwardly disposed outlets. A corresponding plurality of bait tubes are provided for removable connection to the corresponding manifold outlets. Each bait tube comprises an elongate, hollow structure defining a generally oval cross section. Upon activation, water is pumped upward through each bait tube and allowed to overflow from the top thereof for recirculation. As should be apparent, live baitfish are placed into each bait tube in a head down orientation whereby water entering the tube inlet flows through the bait's gills thereby maintaining the bait in a live condition.

The holder has a hollow, disc-shaped keeper body having forward and aft ends and cornerless interior space. The keeper is buoyant. A top hatch accesses the interior where bait is held. In use, ports on the top-portion of the keeper vent air and water from the interior, and bottom-ports disposed toward the forward-end of the keeper allow water to enter the interior. A tether attachment is disposed on the bottom-portion at the forward end below the neutral buoyancy plane of the keeper body, and as a tether maintains the forward end into the wind and/or current, the keeper rocks fore and aft forcing water into the bottom-ports to provide dynamic water flow into the bait holder.
