MEDIUM CONVEYANCE DEVICE, CONTROL METHOD, AND CONTROL PROGRAM
Provided are a medium conveying apparatus, a control method, and a control program to enable more accurate detennination whether a medium conveyance abnormality has occurred. A medium conveying apparatus includes an ultrasonic transmitter capable of outputting an ultrasonic wave, an ultrasonic receiver opposed to the ultrasonic transmitter, to receive the ultrasonic wave and output an ultrasonic signal corresponding to the received ultrasonic wave, a pressure detection module to detect atmospheric pressure, based on the ultrasonic signal, a sound receiver to receive a sound and generate a sound signal corresponding to the received sound, an abnormality determination module to determine whether a medium conveyance abnormality has occurred, based on the sound signal, and a modification module to modify sensitivity of the sound receiver, correct the sound signal, or modify a criterion for determination of a medium conveyance abnormality by the abnormality determination module, based on the atmospheric pressure.
IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS
An image processing apparatus includes a transmitter, a receiver, a comparison circuit, and a control unit. The transmitter transmits an ultrasonic wave to a conveyance path through which a sheet is conveyed. The receiver faces the transmitter with the conveyance path in between, and receives the ultrasonic wave transmitted by the transmitter. The comparison circuit compares a level signal indicating a reception level of the ultrasonic wave received by the receiver with a threshold signal for determining whether or not the sheet is double-fed in the conveyance path, and outputs a comparison result signal according to the comparison result. The control unit determines whether or not there is a possibility of a defect in the double feed detection function of detecting double feed based on the comparison result signal and the level signal.
Image forming apparatus, storage medium, and life determination method
An image forming apparatus including: a sheet feeding roller which feeds a sheet accumulated on a tray; and a hardware processor which: detects a movement speed of the sheet currently fed by the sheet feeding roller; and calculates a difference amount between the movement speed and a first reference speed, and determines a life of the sheet feeding roller based on the difference amount, wherein the hardware processor determines whether or not to use the movement speed of a first sheet for life determination based on a relationship between the movement speed of the first sheet and the movement speed of a sheet fed before the first sheet, and if the hardware processor determines not to use the movement speed of the first sheet for the life determination, the hardware processor calculates the difference amount by excluding the movement speed of the first sheet.

Medium conveying apparatus for controlling feeding a medium
A medium conveying apparatus includes a medium tray, a feed roller to feed a medium placed on the medium tray, a brake roller facing the feed roller, a pressing member to press the brake roller to the feed roller side, a processor to detect media multi-feed, and control the feed roller and the brake roller in such a way that the medium is reset to the medium tray when the media multi-feed of media is detected. The processor controls the pressing member in such a way that a pressing force of the brake roller when resetting the medium to the medium tray is greater than a pressing force of the brake roller when feeding the medium.

Image forming apparatus that identifies sheet thickness
A transmitter transmits ultrasonic wave of a predetermined volume. A reflected ultrasonic wave receiver receives reflected ultrasonic wave, transmitted from the transmitter and reflected by a sheet. A permeated ultrasonic wave receiver receives permeated ultrasonic wave, transmitted by the transmitter and permeated through the sheet. A volume detector detects reflected volume of the reflected ultrasonic wave, and permeated volume of the permeated ultrasonic wave. The decider identifies a thickness of the sheet being transported by a transport device, and decides whether multifeed of the sheets is occurring, on a basis of a comparison result between the detected reflected volume and a reference reflected volume, and a comparison result between the detected permeated volume and a reference permeated volume.
CAPACITANCE BASED PAPER DETECTION
An image forming apparatus includes a print engine to form an image on recording medium, a sensor including first and second electrodes disposed to oppose each other based on a recording medium transport path, along which the recording medium is transported, and to detect a capacitance between the first and second electrodes, and a processor to determine a state of the recording medium fed along the recording medium transport path by using the capacitance detected by the sensor and to control the print engine based on the state of the recording medium.
