This invention is embodied in an improved yarn swift that provides integrated storage of all components; smooth and non-tipping rotation when in use; foldable appendages that are secured in their folded position for compact storage; minimized assembly and adjustments needed for use; ability to use on any flat surface as opposed to being clamped to a work-bench edge; and no screw-tightening needed to operate. In this way, the improved yarn swift enables its user to quickly and easily wind a hank of yarn.

A rope storage unit includes a rope reel, formed by a rope wound in a spiral form and a support body provided with an inner space inside which the rope reel is positioned supported by the support body. The rope is a rod having a straight form when in rest state and elastically bendable away from the straight form, the rope being under substantial bending tension in the spiral form. The support body includes one or more support members delimiting the inner space and surrounding radially the rope reel. The outer rim of the rope reel radially compresses against the one or more support members as an effect of the bending tension. A method is provided for installing an elevator rope implementing the rope storage unit, as well as to a method for fabricating the rope storage unit.

A resizable cord holder for storing and unwinding cord bundles has two elongated C-channel arms connected adjacent to each other to form a supporting base. The arms are connected to each other by a handle, which is installed into corresponding handle holes in the two arms. The total length of the supporting base can be adjusted by reselecting which holes the handle is installed into. The supporting base can rotate relative to the handle for unwinding an installed cord bundle. Cord bundles are held in place by two retainer mounts at opposite ends of the supporting base. A separation member of the retainer mounts traverses through the arms, connecting a locking member and a retainer member on opposite sides of the arms, with the locking members within the C-channels. Coil springs around the separation members apply retaining tension to the locking members against the inner surface of the C-channels.
