A rodent trap (1) for catching and killing rodents, in particular mice and/or rats comprises clamp means (2) at least having an upper jaw part (3) and a lower jaw part (4). The upper jaw part (3) is able to swing relative to the lower jaw part (4) from an open position to a closed position in which it hits and kills a rodent. The upper jaw part is at least partially rotatable around a jaw rotational axis (A.sub.jaw). A lifting lever (5) for releasing the clamp means (2) from the opened position is comprised. The lifting lever (5) is activatable by a rodent on the first side (f) of the jaw rotational axis (A.sub.jaw). A force means enables the clamp means (2) to change from the open position into the closed position when released. The force means in particular is at least one spring. The lifting lever (5) comprises a latch means (7) on a latch side (LS) of the lifting lever (5) which is arranged on a second side (s) of the jaw rotational axis (A.sub.jaw), opposite of the first side (f) of the jaw rotational axis (A.sub.jaw).

A ceiling-mountable animal trap (100) has a housing (102), a snap trap (110), and an indicator (118). The snap trap (110) has a treadle member (112), a killing arm arrangement, and a trigger (116). A killing arm (114) is pivotally mounted, has a set position, and is biased toward an impact position. The trigger (116) couples the treadle member (112) to the killing arm (114) and releases the killing arm from the set position. The indicator (118) is movable between a recessed position and a projecting position in which it projects from the underside of the housing (102). The indicator is held in the recessed position by the killing arm arrangement when the killing arm (114) is in the set position. The indicator (118) decouples from the killing arm arrangement when the killing arm (114) moves towards the impact position so that the indicator moves to the projecting position.

A strike trap is disclosed with improved reliability and ease of setting. In a preferred configuration the improved trap is in the form of a tunnel or tube trap. In a preferred embodiment the strike bar moves upward from a low position to strike against an interior wall or equivalent structure of the tube. The strike bar is set by pressing it downward to become automatically latched near a floor or bottom of the tube. With the downward set action a single hand or foot can provide the set motion wherein the ground or other support surface exclusively provides a reaction force. A two stage retention system provides reliable low force, low travel trip action. The strike bar therefore can pivot adjacent to a wall with the bar extending away there from. This compact arrangement ensures the tube entrances in the tube embodiment are adjacent to the wall.

The present invention relates generally to rodent traps that use food and/or poison to entice the rodent to the trap. This invention uses heat and/or cool air to entice the rodent to the trap. During the cool weather season heat is used to entice the rodent. During the warm weather season cooling is used to entice the rodent. This method can be used for non-kill type rodent traps or kill type rodent traps. This device can also be used to catch other pests such as snakes, squirrels, foxeswhatever animal, pest or rodent is attracted to temperatures to warm up or cool down.

A sanitary mousetrap housing apparatus for effectively and sanitarily killing and removing rodents includes a housing having a left side separated from a right side, a back side, and a bottom side. The bottom side has a width configured to receive a mousetrap between the left side and the right side such that the mousetrap can only be slid through either an open top side or an open front side. The bottom side has a length greater than the length of the mousetrap such that no portion of a trapped mouse is exposed past the open front side.

A sanitary mousetrap housing apparatus for effectively and sanitarily killing and removing rodents includes a housing having a left side separated from a right side, a back side, and a bottom side. A trap 1 has a frame 3, a striking bar 5 connected to the frame for killing a mouse or rat and a retaining bracket 7 attached to the striking bar, which is blocked in standby position by a blocking pawl 11 which can be released by an activating element 13. A spring 9 is present between the striking bar and the frame, which striking bar hits the frame after activation. The trap is provided with a first sensor 17 which determines whether the striking bar is present in the standby or activated position, and a second sensor 19 which determines whether a mouse is present between the frame and the striking bar or not. The trap can determine three situations with the two sensors: standby, tripped and tripped with a mouse in the trap. This allows the status of the trap to be properly monitored.
