A stair lift comprising a rail which is mounted along the staircase, at least partially at an angle to the horizontal plane, and a frame which is movable along the rail, on which a chair is mounted, which frame is provided with support and drive means that engage the rail, wherein the chair is rotatable about a vertical axis relative to the frame between two extreme rotated positions, wherein the chair comprises a seat on which a person can be seated and wherein the chair comprises a footrest on which a person seated on the seat can rest his or her feet, wherein the seat and the footrest are rotatable at mutually different angles about the vertical axis.

A stairlift and/or a method of supporting a user on a stairlift in which the seat is configured to positively retain the user and in which the seat-to-footrest height is set so as to reduce flexure of the knee joints as well as to reduce the intrusion of the passenger into the stairway.

A stair assistance device and a system for assisting individuals with traversing stairways is provided. Each stair assistance device includes a platform. The platform has a first end that is defined opposite of a second end. Each end has an interface. Each interface is designed to secure the end of the platform to one of a pair of lifts. The lifts are designed to vertically displace the platform from a raised position to a lowered position and vice versa. Multiple stair assistance devices may be used to assist an individual with traversing an entire stairway.

The invention relates to a telescopic staircase to be installed on construction sites for providing a safe staircase for workers during building construction. The telescopic staircase comprising at least one lateral guard comprising a top rail, a bottom rail and at least two newels, the bottom rail having a plurality of connecting holes, and a plurality of tread assembly comprising a tread plate, at least two stringer portions and at least two pairs of support members, each support member having at least one connecting hole, in which the at least one lateral guard includes a first portion being retractable into and extensible from a second portion, in which each support member substantially forms a 45° angle with the tread plate, and in which the support members are to be attached to the top surface of the bottom rail via attachment means through the connecting holes.

A staircase mobility system is disclosed. The system includes a docking assembly that is configured to dock or undock with a dockable seat assembly. The docking assembly includes support rods configured to engage or disengage with the dockable seat assembly when docked or undocked, respectively. Further, the docking assembly includes dock connecters are disposed along the support rods. The dock connecters are configured to communicatively connect or disconnect with the dockable seat assembly when docked or undocked, respectively. Further, the system includes a drive assembly coupled to the docking assembly. The drive assembly includes a motor that is configured to drive the docking assembly along a guide rail in a forward or reverse direction, and to operate the docking assembly to dock or undock with the dockable seat assembly.

A footrest safety pad arrangement is incorporated in a stairlift carriage in which movement of a safety pad relative to the carriage is sensed by an electromagnetic sensor and a control signal applied to the stairlift drive motor.

A method of controlling a stairlift, the stairlift including a rail, a chair, and a drive assembly having a drive engine for driving the chair along the rail. The chair is attached to the drive assembly and the chair has an armrest, wherein the armrest is pivotably supported at the chair by a hinge. The hinge allows a rotational movement of the armrest, in particular along a vertical axis. The method includes detecting an angular position of the armrest and controlling at least one functionality of the stairlift, in particular a functionality of the drive assembly, as a function of the detected angular position.
