A marine knuckle boom crane includes a crane housing which is rotational relative to a pedestal about a vertical rotation axis and a knuckle boom assembly attached to the crane housing. The knuckle boom assembly includes a main boom, the inner end of which is connected pivotably about a first horizontal pivot axis to the crane housing; and a jib, the inner end of which is connected pivotably about a second horizontal pivot axis to the outer end of the main boom, wherein the jib is pivotable at least between an extended position in which the tip extends mainly forward from the main boom, and a folded position in which the jib is folded back, essentially parallel along the main boom. In order to position the jib with respect to the main boom, a tensioning member is provided extending between the crane housing and a curved extension guide connected to the jib.

Provided is a jib connection structure for restraining a projectable/retractable jib from swinging sideways in a state where the jib is suspended from a boom tip end part, the jib connection structure including: jib connection shafts projecting horizontally toward both sides from a boom tip end part; and jib base end engagement parts respectively provided to bifurcated jib base end parts. Each jib base end engagement part is U-shaped into which the jib connection shaft can be fitted, and is provided with an insertion hole into which a pin for preventing the jib connection shaft from slipping out is inserted. The insertion hole in one jib base end engagement part is arranged more toward the outside than a U-shaped bottom part. When a jib is suspended from the boom tip end part, the left and right pins engage with the respective jib connection shafts, and the jib is suspended at two points.

PORTABLE WINCH
20170334688 · 2017-11-23 ·

A portable winch and method of use is shown. One advantage of winches shown includes an ability to lower a boom or boom sections into limited access exit pit for winching operations such as pipe bursting. Sectional boom designs shown provide the ability to easily raise and lower a boom large distances without the need for a single long boom. Selected winch designs shown include flexible inserts between the boom and the winch frame that help resist damage from unforeseen shifting of the device during operation. Designs and methods shown also include multiple pulleys on a boom end unit. Fasteners are shown that reduce build up of debris.

CRANE

A crane includes a boom and a derricking mechanism, wherein: the derricking mechanism includes a linking device connecting one end of a guy line to a distal end of the boom; the linking device includes a joint connected to one end of the guy line, and a support device provided on the distal end to support the joint so as to locate the joint at a position away from the back surface and opposite to the ventral surface; and the support device includes a holding member which holds the joint, the holding member allowing the position of the joint to be selectively changed to a plurality of different positions in a first direction perpendicularly intersecting an axis of the boom and a rotary axis of the boom.

Sliding lock mechanism for securing a jib assembly
09663334 · 2017-05-30 · ·

A jib assembly has a sheath, a jib arm disposed within the sheath, and at least two gripping components disposed on the inner surface of the sheath. The sheath is operable to engage the jib arm to secure the jib arm and prevent the jib arm from extending and retracting relative to the sheath by aligning the sheath to be substantially parallel with the jib arm. The sheath is operable to disengage the jib arm to allow at least a portion of the jib arm to extend and retract relative to the sheath by rotating the sheath away from substantially parallel with the jib arm.
