METHODS OF FORMING NANOSTRUCTURES INCLUDING METAL OXIDES USING BLOCK COPOLYMER MATERIALS
A self-assembled nanostructure comprises first domains and second domains. The first domains comprise a first block of a block copolymer material and an activatable catalyst. The second domains comprise a second block and substantially without the activatable catalyst. The activatable catalyst is capable of generating catalyst upon application of activation energy, and the generated catalyst is capable of reacting with a metal oxide precursor to provide a metal oxide. A semiconductor structure comprises such self-assembled nanostructure on a substrate.
Microwave assisted and low-temperature fabrication of nanowire arrays on scalable 2D and 3D substrates
A method of making a titanium dioxide nanowire array includes contacting a substrate with a solvent comprising a titanium (III) precursor, an acid, and an oxidant while microwave heating the solvent, thereby forming a hydrogen titanate H2Ti2O5.H2O nanowire array. The hydrogen titanate nanowire array is annealed to form a titanium dioxide nanowire array. The substrate is seeded with titanium dioxide before starting the hydrothermal synthesis of the hydrogen titanate nanowire array. The titanium dioxide nanowire array is loaded with a platinum group metal to form an exhaust gas catalyst. The titanium dioxide nanowire array can be used to catalyze oxidation of combustion exhaust.
High Rate Printing of Microscale and Nanoscale Patterns Using Interfacial Convective Assembly
Interfacial convective assembly can assemble any type of nanoparticles or other nanoelements in minutes to form microscale and nanoscale patterns in vias or trenches in patterned substrates. The nanoelements can be assembled on both hydrophilic and hydrophobic surfaces. Nanoparticles can fuse during the process to provide solid or single crystalline electrical circuit components.
Nanowire-Coated Microdevice and Method of Making and Using the Same
A microdevice containing a plurality of nanowires on a biocompatible surface, and methods of making and using the same are provided. Aspects of the present disclosure include forming a plurality of microdevices on a substrate where each microdevice includes a plurality of nanowires. The nanowires may be loaded with an active agent by disposing the active agent onto the surface of the nanowires. Also provided herein are kits that include the subject microdevices.
Nanosheet MEMs sensor device and method of manufacture
A nanosheet MEMS sensor device and method are described for integrating the fabrication of nanosheet transistors (61) and MEMS sensors (62) in a single nanosheet process flow by forming separate nanosheet transistor and MEMS sensor stacks (12A-16A, 12B-16B) of alternating Si and SiGe layers which are selectively processed to form gate electrodes (49A-C) which replace the silicon germanium layers in the nanosheet transistor stack, to form silicon fixed electrodes using silicon layers (13B-2, 15B-2) on a first side of the MEMS sensor stack, and to form silicon cantilever electrodes using silicon layers (13B-1, 15B-1) on a second side of the MEMS sensor stack by forming a narrow trench opening (54) in the MEMS sensor stack to expose and remove remnant silicon germanium layers on the second side in the MEMS sensor stack.
Microfluidic devices for the generation of nano-vapor bubbles and their methods of manufacture and use
Microfluidic devices having superhydrophilic bi-porous interfaces are provided, along with their methods of formation. The device can include a substrate defining a microchannel formed between a pair of side walls and a bottom surface and a plurality of nanowires extending from each of the side walls and the bottom surface. For example, the nanowires can be silicon nanowires (e.g., pure silicon, silicon oxide, silicon carbide, etc., or mixtures thereof).
NEUTRAL LAYER POLYMERS, METHODS OF MANUFACTURE THEREOF AND ARTICLES COMPRISING THE SAME
Disclosed herein is a block copolymer comprising a first segment and a second segment that are covalently bonded to each other and that are chemically different from each other; where the first segment has a first surface free energy and where the second segment has a second surface free energy; and an additive copolymer; where the additive copolymer comprises a surface free energy reducing moiety where the surface free energy reducing moiety has a lower surface free energy than that of the first segment and the second segment; the additive copolymer further comprising one or more moieties having an affinity to the block copolymer; where the surface free energy reducing moiety is chemically different from the first segment and from the second segment; where the additive copolymer is not water miscible; and where the additive copolymer is not covalently bonded with the block copolymer.
Methods for micro and nano fabrication by selective template removal
A method to remove selected parts of a thin-film material otherwise uniformly deposited over a template is disclosed. The methods rely on a suitable potting material to encapsulate and snatch the deposited material on apexes of the template. The process may yield one and/or two devices during a single process step: (i) thin-film material(s) with micro- and/or nano-perforations defined by the shape of template apexes, and (ii) micro- and/or nano-particles shaped and positioned in the potting material by the design of the template apexes. The devices made from this method may find applications in fabrication of mechanical, chemical, electrical and optical devices.
