SYSTEMS, METHODS AND DEVICES FOR DECREASING SOLUBILITY PROBLEMS IN CHROMATOGRAPHY
A significant reduction in extra-column band broadening can be achieved by decoupling the injection system from the main solvent flow line. In addition, by decoupling the injection system from the main solvent flow line, additional components (e.g., filters, valves, etc.) can be introduced into the chromatography system without increasing the negative band broadening effects. Systems and methods herein provide not only for such decoupling but also for filtering precipitates from the system. As a result, a larger volume of sample can be injected into the present systems without compromising separation yield. In addition, an increase the column loading per batch, an increase the overall yield of separations, and greater system efficiency (i.e., less time lost for cleaning and maintenance) can be realized.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING OUTLET FLOW OF A DEVICE FOR SEPARATING CELLULAR SUSPENSIONS
A system for separating a suspension of biological cells is disclosed comprising a single-use fluid circuit and a durable hardware component. The fluid circuit comprises a separator having a housing that includes an inlet for introducing the suspension of biological cells into the gap, a first outlet in communication with the gap for flowing a first type of cells from the separator, and a second outlet in communication with the second side of the filter membrane for flowing a second type of cells from the separator. The hardware component comprises a pump for flowing the suspension of biological cells to the inlet of the separator and at least one flow control device associated with the first outlet and the second outlet of the separator for selectively opening and closing the outlets so as to permit one of the first type of cells and the second type of cells to flow out of the separator in accordance with a predetermined duty cycle equal to the ratio of a target flow rate of first type of cells through the first outlet to the predetermined inlet flow rate.
Filter device combining beads and fibers
A filter apparatus, a method for the manufacture of the filter apparatus, the use of the filter apparatus in medical, chemical and/or biotechnological applications, and an apparatus for use in the manufacture of the filter apparatus. The filter apparatus has a cylindrical housing and a plurality of hollow fibers. The hollow fibers are combined to form a bundle in the housing and are embedded and held in each case at the end sides in a molding compound. The filtrate space is filled with particles of a chemically or physically active substance.
Chromatography sample introduction device
A disposable chromatography sample introduction device includes a stylus with a holder and a tubular stem extending from one end of the holder containing porous sample-holding material. The stylus has a pair of spaced openings permitting fluid flow therethrough. An injector housing includes an insertion port for receiving the stylus, a seal, an inlet port for communicating with one stylus opening, and an outlet port for communicating with the other stylus opening. When the stem is immersed in a sample, sample enters the stem by capillary action. Thereafter, the stylus is inserted into the housing insertion port where mobile phase flowing from inlet port to outlet port passes through the stem extracting sample. The holder has a finger grip and an external thread that engages a complementary injector housing thread to secure the holder when the stylus is inserted therein.
Adsorbent Biprocessing Clarification Agents and Methods of Making and Using The Same
Adsorbent clarification agents suitable for use in bioprocessing procedures are disclosed. Methods of making and using the adsorbent clarification agents are also disclosed.
METHODS FOR MAKING BOTANICAL EXTRACT COMPOSITION
A method for making a caffeoylquinic composition from a botanical source is disclosed. The method may include chromatographing an extract of biomass on an ion exchange stationary phase and obtaining an eluent comprising a caffeoylquinic composition. The biomass may be Stevia or yerba mate, for example. The caffeoylquinic composition includes one or more of monocaffeoylquinic acid, dicaffeoylquinic acid, and salts of the foregoing.
RECYCLING LITHIUM FROM MIXTURES INCLUDING RADIOACTIVE METAL IONS AND OTHER CONTAMINANTS
A method of purifying aqueous solubilized lithium compounds from other aqueous solubilized or suspended metal salts, including radioactive elemental ions, is described. The method also may purify aqueous solubilized lithium from aqueous solubilized or suspended organic and other contaminants.
Reaction Vessel for Sample Preparation
The present invention relates to sample preparation container for purification and/or enrichment of bio-organic compounds from cellular material, viruses and/or sub-components of said cellular material and/or viruses, the container comprising a reaction chamber and a chromatography medium; wherein said reaction chamber is for holding said cellular material, viruses and/or sub-components of said cellular material and/or viruses and is configured such that at least one of the following reactions can be performed therein: lysis, e.g. by sonication and/or boiling; chromatographic purification; reduction; alkylation; and enzymatic reactions such as proteolysis; wherein said chromatography medium is configured to purify and/or enrich said bio-organic compounds; wherein (a) said chromatography medium is located at a wall of said reaction chamber, and said wall is closed or sealed and configured to be opened for obtaining purified and/or enriched bio-organic compounds; or (b) said sample preparation container further comprises a receiving chamber for receiving said bio-organic compounds, said receiving chamber being adjacent to said chromatography medium such that said chromatography medium separates said reaction chamber from said receiving chamber, and the outer face of said receiving chamber is closed and configured to be opened for obtaining purified and/or enriched bio-organic compounds.
Composition for preventing, alleviating, or treating allergic skin disease comprising as active ingredient extract of gardenia fruit from which pigment is removed
The present invention relates to a composition for preventing, alleviating, or treating allergic skin diseases comprising, as an active ingredient, an extract of gardenia fruit from which pigment is removed, and since the extract of gardenia fruit from which pigment is removed is more effective for allergic skin diseases compared to an extract of gardenia fruit from which pigment is not removed, the composition can be very advantageously used for allergic skin diseases, in particular, atopic dermatitis.
METHODS OF PURIFYING ADENOVIRUS
Methods of purifying adenovirus that can be performed on a large scale. The methods purify adenovirus from an adenovirus-containing sample comprising or derived from a host cell population by clarifying the sample, wherein clarification comprises depth filtration followed by microfiltration; processing the clarified sample by anion exchange chromatography; and processing the anion exchange product by tangential flow filtration (TFF) to provide a TFF product.
