Filter device

A filter device has a filter housing (1) with a fluid inlet (13) for raw fluid, with a fluid outlet (3) for filtrate and with at least one one-piece or multi-piece filter insert (5, 7) received in the filter housing (1). The filter insert can be cleaned using at least one back-flushing member (21) in counter-current to the filtration direction. This back-flushing member can, by a fluid-guiding driveshaft (23) of a rotary drive (35), be moved along the inner side (19) of the respective filter insert (5, 7) and has, at its end adjacent to this inner side (19), a gap-shaped passage opening (39) that extends parallel to the axis of rotation of the driveshaft (23) and that discharges into a flow space (41; 57; 67) fluidically connected to the driveshaft (23). The flow space at least partially continuously narrows in the direction of the driveshaft (23) in a first plane in which the passage opening (39) lies. In another second plane transverse to the first plane, the flow space (41; 57; 67) at least partially continuously widens proceeding from the passage opening (39) in the direction of the driveshaft (23).

A cylindrical filter element having a central longitudinal axis and filter media including a plurality of radially extending pleats arranged in a pattern that repeats around the central longitudinal axis. Each of the pleats comprises an inner pleat tip, wherein the inner pleat tips of each pattern define an open area that extends along a height of the filter element, and wherein each pattern of pleats comprises a first series of intermediate pleats that descends in length from a major pleat to a minor pleat and a second series of intermediate pleats that ascends in length from the minor pleat to a major pleat of an adjacent pattern of pleats.

Alignment notch for an endcap of a filter element

A filtration system comprises a housing having a first housing end and a second housing end. The housing defines a central compartment therein. The housing includes an alignment tab disposed on the second housing end. The alignment tab protrudes from the second housing end towards the first housing end. A filter element is positioned within the housing. The filter element includes a first endcap, a second endcap, and filter media positioned between and extending axially between the first endcap and the second endcap. The filter media defines a central opening extending axially therein. An alignment notch is disposed on the second endcap, the alignment notch protruding from the second endcap toward the first endcap.

A removable and replaceable end cap that selectively lockingly engages a seat ring of a filter housing. The end cap may include a flange that compresses a gasket member between the end cap and the seat ring to form a fluid tight seal therebetween. The end cap may include cam locking grooves that may each receive insertion of a protrusion of the seat ring, and which are structured for at least rotational displacement about the received protrusion as the end cap is rotated between locked and unlocked positions relative to the seat ring. The end cap may also include an opening that accommodates the passage of a fluid to a filter element. The filter element, which may be coupled to the end cap, may be adapted to remove particulate or contaminate from the received fluid.

A filter element has a filter structure and first and second end caps attached to the opposite ends of the filter structure. The filter structure includes an outer filter pack, an inner filter pack, and a helical support positioned between the outer and inner filter packs. The helical support may have flow channels and support ridges on the inner surface and the outer surface of the helical support. Unfiltered fluid may be directed outside-in through the outer filter pack and inside-out through the inner filter pack, the support ridges of the helical support supporting the outer and inner filter packs against the pinching forces associated with the pressure drops across the outer and inner filter packs. Filtrate may be directed axially along the flow channels of the helical support and discharged from the filter element.
