FABRICATION OF TRAGACANTHIN-PVA NANOFIBROUS WEBS AND APPLICATIONS THEREOF IN WATER-ABSORBENT FILTERS
A fabrication method for a filter containing tragacanthin-polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) nanofibers includes obtaining a homogenous tragacanthin-PVA solution by obtaining a PVA solution by dissolving PVA in distilled water, and adding tragacanthin to the PVA solution. The method may further include obtaining a support layer by coating a stainless steel mesh with a thin layer of a hydrophobic polymer, coating a stainless steel mesh with the thin layer of the hydrophobic polymer comprising electrospinning a hydrophobic polymer solution onto the stainless steel mesh, and forming a tragacanthin-PVA nanofibrous web on the support layer by electrospinning the homogenous tragacanthin-PVA solution onto the support layer.
Down feather filter medium
An air/gas filter medium is comprised of a substantially homogeneous core layer of feather down clusters held together by a binder to form a 3-dimensional interconnected filament structure throughout the core. The filament structure forms air pocket and connect and trap the feather down clusters which form minute air pockets between its filaments and hairs in which undesirable substances from an air/gas flow therethrough are captured. An air permeable scrim sheet is retained on a surface of the down cluster core. The down cluster core is compressed to a predetermined density to modify the average size of said minute air pockets to trap known undesirable substances from the air/gas flow.
HEMP-BASED CHAR OR OILS AND POLYMERS FORMED AS FIBERS OR FILMS HAVING ENHANCED PROPERTIES
A process of forming a fiber comprised of a plurality of bio-char particles, comprising: combining a portion of a polymer with a hemp derivative, said hemp derivative selected form a hemp carbon made by pyrolyzing a quantity of hemp stalk at between 1100-1500 C. to create a char; adding the char to a milling vessel and milling the char for a period of between 1 to 16 hours, and a full spectrum hemp extract, or combinations thereof, wherein the polymer and hemp derivative are extruded to form a fiber.
FILTER MEDIUM AND BREATHER FILTER STRUCTURE
Thermoplastic bicomponent binder fiber can be combined with other media, fibers and other filtration components to form a thermally bonded filtration media. The filtration media can be used in filter units, such as breather caps. Such filter units can be placed in the stream of a mobile fluid and can remove a particulate and/or fluid mist load from the mobile stream. The unique combination of media fiber, bicomponent binder fiber and other filtration additives and components provide a filtration media having unique properties in filtration applications.
Fibrous substrate containing fibers and nanofibrillar polysaccharide
A single-layer fibrous substrate comprising, by dry weight compared with the weight of the substrate: between 39.9 and 87.9% natural fibers refined to above 50 SR; between 12 and 60% nanofibrillar polysaccharide; and between 0.1 and 4% of at least one retention agent.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING A PERMEABLE MATERIAL THAT FILTERS OUT HARMFUL PARTICLES AND PRODUCTS CREATED THEREFROM
A permeable material that allows air to easily pass through the interstices in any direction. The permeable material may be a cloth, a mesh, latex, rubber, or any polymer. The material is saturated with a water and/or alcohol based solution containing either a cationic or anionic agent, a disinfecting agent, and a biocide. The solvent on the permeable material is permitted to evaporate. What remains on the permeable material is the cationic or anionic agent and the biocide. This coated material is now surrounded by an electrostatic field. The electrostatically charged material attracts oppositely charged particles and repels similarly charged particles. The particles that contain living organisms are inactivated by the biocide. The formulations have been shown to have efficacy against rhinovirus causing colds, influenza and corona viruses causing diseases such as swine flu and COVID-19, as well as other harmful airborne microscopic and sub-microscopic particles. The material may be formed into products such as face masks, unitary filters, and filtration devices. Users of these masks might want to periodically spray or otherwise apply the solution to the mask to restore its disinfecting, filtration, and biocidic properties. This would also render normally disposable cloth or surgical face masks reusable.
FLAME RESISTANT FILTER APPARATUS AND METHOD
A filter pad with a dry loft between approximately 0.15 and 0.5 inches includes at least a first fiber web comprising a plurality of oleophilic fibers, wherein the oleophilic fibers: have a linear density between approximately 2 and 9 denier; have a length between approximately 1 and 4 inches; and have been uploaded with flame resistant particles.
Erosion and sediment control above grate based inlet filter system
An above grate based inlet filter system for erosion and sediment control comprises a filter mat configured to extend beyond the perimeter of the grate and a securing mechanism, such as magnets, configured to securing the filter mat around the perimeter of the grate. The system may include a filter berm secured in vicinity to the mat, and a rectangular array of magnets coupling the filter mat to the grate. The natural fiber filter mat may effectively be formed of vertically aligned coir fibers or alternatively of reticulated foam. Multiple side edges of the mat are undulating having a pattern of repeating recesses. The mat includes a plurality of high flow holes extending into the mat and which are closed at a bottom surface thereof. The mat includes at least one removable dewatering plug configured to allow for selective mat bypass.
