An antimicrobial composition including low molecular weight dendrimers of formula (1): ##STR00001## Q is an antimicrobial moiety in monomer or dendritic form, N is a nitrogen atom, L.sub.2 is a linker linking each Y.sub.1 molecular spacer to the nitrogen atom, Y.sub.1 is a molecular spacer spacing each antimicrobial moiety Q from the L.sub.2 linker, there are two or more chains of antimicrobial moieties and molecular spacers, X is a linker configured to covalently bond to surface functionalities of the substrate, and Y.sub.2 is a molecular spacer between the linker X and the nitrogen atom.

A reactive antibacterial compound and a preparation method thereof are provided herein. The reactive antibacterial compound is represented by the general formula (I) or (II):

BENZAMIDE COMPOUNDS AND THEIR USE AS HERBICIDES
The invention relates to benzamides of formula I,

and their use as herbicides. In said formula I, R.sup.2 is R.sup.2cR.sup.2dNC(O)NR.sup.2nZ.sup.2, both R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are hydrogen, R.sup.1, R.sup.3 and R.sup.6 represent groups such as hydrogen, halogen or organic groups such as alkyl or phenyl. The invention further refers to a composition comprising such compound and to the use thereof for controlling unwanted vegetation.
Treatment of circulating water systems including well treatment fluids for oil and gas applications
A biocidal additive includes a blend of a biguanide compound and a polymeric ammonium compound. A method of treating a water system includes adding a biocidal additive to the water system to achieve a minimum inhibitory concentration or greater in the water system. In exemplary embodiments, the water system is a well treatment fluid for oil and gas applications, the blend is a synergistic blend, the biguanide compound is polyhexamethylene biguanide, and the polymeric ammonium compound is poly[oxyethylene(dimethyliminio)ethylene(dimethyliminio)ethylene dichloride].
