Separating sweet gas from a sour gas stream
An oxidation-reduction desulfurization system includes a reactor vessel with sour gas inlet at the bottom and a gas outlet at the top. A primary stage phase separator includes a vertically-oriented pipe with an inlet located inside the reactor vessel. The ratio of the reactor vessel diameter to the pipe inlet diameter is in a range of 2:1 to 5:1. Surface foam and non-gaseous multi-phase mixture including emulsion flow into a partially gas-filled upper section of the vertically-oriented pipe and freefall to a lower level, thereby facilitating mechanical breaking of the foam and the emulsion. A secondary stage phase separator connected to the gas outlet separates non-gaseous surge from sweet gas. Valves and a controller automatically maintain target levels of the non-gaseous multi-phase mixture and non-gaseous surge.
Reversible light driven gas absorbent solution and process
The invention relates to a process for removing a target gas from a gas stream rich in the target gas and to an absorbent solution for absorbing a gas, such as carbon dioxide, from a gas stream. The invention involves the use of a photoactive compound that is convertible from a first state to a second state upon irradiation to facilitate removal or collection of a target gas from a gas stream.
CLAUS UNIT TREATMENT OF SHUTDOWN TAIL GAS
The process for configuring or reconfiguring a sulfur removal plant having a plurality of Claus units that is greater than the number of downstream tail gas treating units (TGTUs) is disclosed. The process allows for the regeneration of one of the Claus units without shutting down any of the downstream TGTUs or the other Claus units. Specifically, the regeneration tail gas can be diverted to the reaction furnace of an in-service Claus unit, thereby allowing excess oxygen to be used to regenerate the Claus unit more efficiently, and without exceeding environmental SO.sub.2 emission requirements.
Method for preparing solids from a mixture of at least one malachite powder and an oxide powder and the use of said solids
The invention relates to a method for preparing a solid comprising the mixture of a set of compounds comprising at least one Cu.sub.2(OH).sub.2CO.sub.3 powder, one metal oxide powder selected from the group of metals consisting of copper, zinc, iron, manganese and mixtures thereof, and at least one binder as well as the use of the solid prepared by means of this method.

Separations with ionic liquid solvents
Disclosed are systems and methods which provide a process stream comprising a gaseous component, capture the gaseous component from the process stream by an ionic liquid solvent of a separator, and recover a captured gaseous component from the ionic liquid solvent in a regenerator. A second gaseous component from the process stream may be captured by the ionic liquid solvent of the separator, and the second gaseous component may be recovered from the ionic liquid solvent in the regenerator. Alternatively, the second gaseous component from the process stream may be uncaptured by the ionic liquid solvent, and the uncaptured second gaseous component may be recovered from a membrane unit.

INTEGRATED PROCESS TO RECOVER HIGH QUALITY NATIVE CO2 FROM A SOUR GAS COMPRISING H2S AND CO2
The invention concerns a method for treating a hydrocarbon feed gas stream containing at least CO.sub.2 and H.sub.2S to recover a high quality purified CO.sub.2 gas stream, comprising a. Separating said hydrocarbon feed gas stream into a sweetened hydrocarbon gas stream, and an acid gas stream; b. Introducing said gas stream into a Claus unit, c. Introducing the tail gas into a hydrogenation reactor and then into a quench contactor of the Tail Gas Treatment Unit (TGTU); d. Contacting said tail gas stream with a non-selective amine-based solvent into a non-selective acid gas absorption unit of the TGTU; e. Sending the off gas to an incinerator; f. Contacting said enriched gas stream (vii) with a selective H.sub.2S-absorption solvent into a selective H.sub.2S-absorption unit thereby recovering a highly purified CO.sub.2 gas stream and a H.sub.2S-enriched gas stream, as well as the device for carrying said method.
METHOD FOR REMOVING CONTAMINANT FROM A FLUID STREAM
A method for removing at least one contaminant from a fluid stream by filtering the fluid stream with a filtration medium. The filtration medium includes an impregnate. The impregnate includes a surfactant such as sulfamic acid. The medium has from about 0.1 to about 25% by weight of impregnate. The method is useful for removing one or more volatile organic compounds, particularly formaldehyde, from the fluid stream. In some embodiments, the method includes removing at least two volatile organic compound contaminants from the fluid stream.
Epoxide-based hydrogen sulfide scavengers
Disclosed herein are scavenging compounds and compositions useful in applications relating to the production, transportation, storage, and separation of crude oil and natural gas. Also disclosed herein are methods of using the compounds and compositions as scavengers, particularly in applications relating to the production, transportation, storage, and separation of crude oil and natural gas.
