20220118404 · 2022-04-21 ·

The present invention describes methods for absorbing a targeted chemical compound from a gas stream into a scrubbing solution for various uses and with various benefits. Methods are described to produce a gas stream that can be further processed with operational benefits, such as through condensing and wastewater treatment with a lower load on the wastewater treatment system. Methods are described for adsorbing the targeted compound with reduced condensation of water from the gas stream. Methods are described for producing a liquid stream comprising an absorbed form of the targeted compound for use as a saleable product, such as adsorbing ammonia for the production of a fertilizer, wherein the concentration of the absorbed form may be increased through reduced condensation from the gas stream.

Methods are described for producing a lower volume liquid waste stream from the absorption process through the use of reduced condensation of the gas stream.

Method for generating hydrogen from a nitrogen containing borane compound and active metal borohydride mixture

A method for generating hydrogen from a mixture of nitrogen containing borane compound and active metal borohydride reactants uses a catalyst-free water vapor driven hydrothermolysis process. The method involves mechanically mixing a selected ratio of nitrogen containing borane compound such as ammonia borane and an active metal borohydride such as sodium borohydride to produce a mixture, combining the mixture with a water vapor source, and heating the mixture and water vapor source to a temperature within a near ambient temperature range of 30° C. to 104° C., until a product gas comprising hydrogen is released. The heating can be at a constant temperature or at increasing temperatures. Water vapor and impurities are removed from the product gas to produce purified hydrogen gas.

This disclosure provides an integrated system and method for producing purified water, hydrogen, and oxygen from contaminated water. The contaminated water may be derived from regolith-based resources on the moon, Mars, near-Earth asteroids, or other destination in outer space. The integrated system and method utilize a cold trap to receive the contaminated water in a vapor phase and selectively freeze out water from one or more volatiles. A heat source increases temperature in the cold trap to vaporize the frozen contaminated water to produce a gas stream of water vapor and volatiles. A chemical scrubber may remove one or more volatiles. The integrated system and method utilize ionomer membrane technology to separate the water vapor from remaining volatiles. The water vapor is delivered for crew use or delivered to an electrolyzer to produce hydrogen and oxygen.

Methods for extracting and recycling hydrogen from MOCVD process exhaust gas by FTrPSA

The present invention discloses methods for extracting and recycling hydrogen in an MOCVD process by FTrPSA. Through pretreatment, fine deamination, PSA hydrogen extraction, deep dehydration and hydrogen purification procedures, ammonia-containing waste hydrogen from an MOCVD process is purified to meet the electronic-level hydrogen (the purity is greater than or equal to 99.99999% v/v) standard required by the MOCVD process, to implement resource reuse of exhaust gases, where the hydrogen yield is greater than or equal to 75-86%. The present invention solves the technical problem that atmospheric-pressure or low-pressure waste hydrogen from MOCVD processes cannot be returned to the MOCVD processes for use after being recycled, and fills the gap in green and circular economy development of the LED industry.
