The element frame (2) comprising two pairs of opposing walls (10), an interior (11) formed by the walls (10), an inlet end (12) and an outlet end (13). The least one monolith (3) comprising an inlet (20), an outlet (20), four sides (22) and at least one catalyst. At least one knit wire mesh bearing element (4) is provided such that there is at least a portion of the at least one knit wire mesh bearing element (4) between the at least one monolith (3) and each adjacent wall (10) of the element frame (2).

System and method for regulating the flow of smoke in an indoor smoker

An indoor smoker includes a cabinet including an exhaust duct, a smoking chamber, a firebox, and a bypass duct extending between the firebox and the exhaust duct. A damper is movable between a first position for closing the smoking chamber when a firebox temperature is outside a desired range and a second position for blocking the bypass duct when the firebox temperature is within the desired range. The damper thus regulates the flow of smoke such that only good smoke is directed into the smoking chamber, while bad smoke is routed directly to the exhaust duct.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING AN EMISSIONS CONTROL FAILURE IN AN INDOOR SMOKER

An indoor smoker includes a smoking chamber and an air handler for drawing a flow of smoke from the smoking chamber through an exhaust duct. A catalytic converter is positioned in the exhaust duct and includes a catalytic element and catalytic heater for heating the catalytic element to a temperature suitable for regulating emissions from the flow of smoke. A temperature sensor is used to monitor the temperature of the catalytic element, and smoke generation is stopped when the catalyst temperature drops below a temperature threshold or drops at a rate that exceeds a threshold rate, which may be indicative of a failure of the catalyst heater or air handler.

Method of producing heat in a power station

Method for producing thermal energy from a fuel containing hydrocarbons. According to the method, the fuel is burned in a combustion plant at an increased temperature, heat obtained from the combustion is recovered and the combustion's exhaust gases and soot particles are cleaned by catalytic exhaust-gas combustion. Fuel and air are fed to the invention's exhaust gases to form a gas mixture, which is brought to catalytic combustion performed at a temperature of more than 600 C. to reduce the nitrogen oxides and oxidize the carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and soot particles. The solution can be used to significantly reduce the level of the gas's NOx, and CO and VOC emissions. The thermal energy produced by the catalytic combustion process can also be used to produce heat, in which case the feed of fuel is divided between the combustion plant and the catalytic combustion process.

Provided herein is a catalytic article including a catalytic coating disposed on a substrate, wherein the catalytic coating comprises a bottom coating on the substrate and a top coating layer on the bottom coating layer, one such coating layer containing a platinum group metal on a refractory metal oxide support and the other such coating layer containing a ceria-containing molecular sieve. Such catalytic articles are effective toward treating exhaust gas streams of internal combustion engines and exhibit outstanding resistance to sulfur.

Indoor smoker

An indoor smoker includes a cabinet including an exhaust duct, a smoking chamber, a firebox, and a bypass duct extending between the firebox and the exhaust duct. The indoor smoker further includes a system of dampers and check valves to regulate the flow of smoke and air within the indoor smoker. A controller may regulate these features to terminate a smoking process by asphyxiating the combustible material and evacuating the smoking chamber, to pause a process by evacuating the smoking chamber while permitting bleed air into the smoldering chamber, or to continue a normal smoking operation.

Indoor smoker with smoke containment features

An indoor smoker includes a cabinet defining a discharge vent, a smoking chamber having a chamber outlet, and an exhaust assembly including an exhaust duct and a recirculation duct providing fluid communication between the chamber outlet and the discharge vent. An air handler urges a flow of smoke through a catalytic converter positioned within the exhaust duct to lower volatile organic compounds prior to discharging the smoke. A recirculation port may be defined between the recirculation duct and the exhaust duct upstream of the catalytic converter and a damper may direct the flow of smoke through the recirculation port when the smoke contains unacceptable levels of volatile organic compounds.
