Certain embodiments are directed to finite step emulsification device and/or methods that combine finite step emulsification with gradients of confinement for the formation of a 2D monolayer array of droplets with low size dispersion.

Microfluidic device for high-volume production of monodisperse emulsions

A high volume microfluidic system for producing emulsions includes a fluid distribution network to produce uniformly sized emulsions and encapsulates.

Method For Preparing Stable Liquid Emulsion Forms Of Plant Extract
20180360704 · 2018-12-20 ·

A method for preparing stable liquid emulsion forms of plant extract is provided. A plant extract is mixed with a diluent oil as an oil mixture. Heat is applied to the oil mixture until the mixture reaches a threshold viscosity. An emulsifying agent is dispersed in water as an emulsifying solution. The oil mixture and emulsifying solution are mixed together. The mixed oil mixture and emulsifying solution are homogenized as a liquid form of the plant extract.

A method for manufacturing an emulsion comprises drops in an external solution, the drops containing a fluid. The fluid is moved along a first main channel, a portion of the fluid moving in the first main channel is withdrawn via a plurality of microchannels positioned in parallel between the first main channel and a second main channel filled with external solution, the drops are formed by hydrodynamic focusing when the fluid passes from each microchannel into the second main channel.

NOVEL METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING AN ADJUVANT

The present invention relates to compositions and methods for manufacturing an adjuvant comprising a saponin using a microfluidic device and to aspects thereof.

System and Method for Mixing Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids into a Fluid Food Product

A method for producing a mixture of oil and fluid food product includes placing a funnel into a pressure tank such that a stem of the funnel extends at least halfway down into the pressure tank. The pressure tank is flushed with nitrogen. Oil flows into the pressure tank through the funnel. A flow of nitrogen into the pressure tank is maintained through a side inlet of the pressure tank. Oil is dispensed from a pressure tank into the transfer line flowing a flow of fluid food product from a batch tank. The dispensed oil is dispersed into the flow of fluid food product in a inline shear mixer creating oil-in-fluid food product droplets. The oil-in-fluid food product droplets flow to the batch tank with the flow of fluid food product. The oil-in-fluid food product droplets are distributed in a volume of fluid food product in the batch tank.

System and Method for Mixing Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids into a Fluid Food Product

An apparatus for distributing oil into fluid food product includes a batch tank, a transfer line, a pressure tank, a funnel, an oil dispenser, an inline shear mixer, and a flow line. The batch tank holds a volume of fluid food product. The transfer line is in fluid connection with the batch tank. The pressure tank holds a volume of oil. The funnel is disposed through a top opening in the pressure tank and dispenses oil into the pressure tank. A stem portion of the funnel extends at least halfway into an interior of the pressure tank. The funnel includes at least one vent. The oil dispenser dispenses oil from the pressure tank into a flow of fluid food product from the batch tank. The inline shear mixer mixes the fluid food product and the oil. The flow line flows the fluid food product-and-oil mixture to the batch tank.

Compositions and methods for arranging colloid phases

The present invention generally relates to colloids and methods for changing the arrangement of droplet phases. In some embodiments, the colloids and methods comprise a plurality of droplets comprising two or more components, such that the two or more components can change arrangement of the components in the presence of an external stimulus. In some embodiments, the change in component arrangement is reversible. In certain embodiments, the change in component arrangement forms Janus droplets.

LIPID MEMBRANE VESICLE, AND METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PREPARING THE SAME

It is a known fact that when fine water having a particle size of 50 nanometers or less enters the horny layer of the skin, the fine water softens the skin and expands gaps in the horny layer. Therefore, when being used for perfumes or cosmetics, skin external preparations, or the like, lipid membrane vesicles containing the fine water are allowed to easily enter the horny layer.
