System for use in bone cement preparation and delivery
A system for use in bone cement preparation can include a chamber for intermixing a liquid monomer and solid polymer components, a container, a vacuum channel, and a filter. The mixing chamber can be configured to hold a non-liquid, polymer powder component of a bone cement. The container can be configured to hold a liquid component of the bone cement. The system can have a first interface disposed between the mixing chamber and the container and a second interface disposed between the mixing chamber and the vacuum channel. The second interface can to receive and position the filter between the mixing chamber and the vacuum channel. The vacuum channel can direct a partial vacuum to draw the liquid component from the container into the non-liquid component in the mixing chamber to intermix the components and to thereby provide a settable bone cement.
Device for storing and mixing bone cement
A device and method store, mix, and apply polymethylmethacrylate bone cement, and comprise a first container (51) for a first pasty component of the bone cement, a dispensing plunger (54) that is arranged such that it can be shifted in the first container (51) for pressing the content of the first container (51) through a dispensing tube (62) situated opposite from the dispensing plunger (54), whereby the dispensing tube (62) is arranged such that it can be rotated and shifted in longitudinal direction through a feed-through in a side of the container (51) opposite from the dispensing plunger (54), and a mixing facility (72) for mixing the content of the first container (51), whereby the mixing facility (72) is arranged in the first container (51) and is secured to the dispensing tube (62), such that the mixing facility (72) can be moved in the first container (51) by moving the dispensing tube (62) in order to mix the content of the first container (51), whereby a closure (71) that can be opened is arranged on the end of the dispensing tube (62) pointing into the inside of the first container (51) and closes the dispensing tube (62), and an axially mobile core is arranged in the dispensing tube (62), and a second container for at least one second component of the bone cement is formed by the space between the closure (71) and the core in the dispensing tube (62), whereby the closure (71) of the second container can be removed from the first end of the dispensing tube (62) through an axial motion of the core and thus the second container can be opened with respect to the first container (51) such that the contents of the second container and of the first container (51) can be mixed with each other in the first container (51), whereby at least one boundary surface of the first container (51) is formed by a mobile volume compensation element (56) and the closure (71) is connected to the dispensing tube (62) by means of a deformable connection (74) such that the closure (71), even when it is open, is connected to the dispensing tube (62) by means of the deformable connection (74).
Apparatus and Method for Formulation and Dispensing of Visually Customized Cosmetics
A portioning machine for providing a custom cosmetic includes a mixer having a mixing chamber and also accommodates a plurality of syringes having outlets that are directly coupled to the mixing chamber. In one embodiment, the portioning machine includes a plurality of slots, where each slot is configured to receive an assembly having at least one syringe. In another embodiment, the portioning machine includes a slot configured to receive an assembly having a plurality of syringes. Each syringe is associated with an actuator, and the portioning machine includes a portioning processor configured to control the actuators to dispense additives from selected syringes into the mixing chamber in accordance with a target set of additive ratios to produce the custom cosmetic.
BONE CEMENT APPLICATOR WITH THREE-WAY VALVE FOR PRESSURE RELIEF
Bone cement applicators and methods for application of a bone cement dough, the applicators and methods comprise a tubular cartridge with an internal space, a dispensing plunger for expelling the starting components through an opening of the cartridge opposite from the dispensing plunger, wherein the dispensing plunger is mobile in longitudinal direction in the internal space of the cartridge. The applicators and methods further comprise a hose, an application opening, a three-way valve operable from outside and arranged or arrangeable in the hose or on a side of the hose facing the cartridge, and a collecting container arranged on the three-way valve. The three-way valve is designed and arranged or arrangeable in the applicator such that it, being in a first position, provides a fluid connection between the application opening and the opening of the cartridge and closes a feed-through to the collecting container and, being in a second position, provides a fluid connection between the application opening and the collecting container and closes a passage to the opening of the cartridge.
MANUAL MIXER
A manual mixer serves to facilitate mixing and agitating materials for use during surgery. For example, the manual mixer includes a body portion defining an interior area, a mixing assembly provided in the interior area of the body portion, a crank assembly for actuating the mixing assembly, and a valve assembly. The mixing assembly serves to mix and agitate the materials provided in the interior through rotation of a plunger portion and a spring attached thereto, and through upwards and downwards movement of the plunger portion in the interior area. Rotation of the crank assembly serves to rotate the plunger portion and the spring attached thereto, and effectuate upwards and downwards movement of the plunger portion. The valve assembly can be opened to facilitate dispensing of the materials from the interior area.
Vacuum mixing system and method for the mixing of polymethylmethacrylate bone cement
Vacuum mixing systems and methods mix of polymethylmethacrylate bone cement, the systems and methods comprise at least one cartridge having an evacuable internal space, a pump with a plunger that can be moved by hand to generate a low pressure, and a connecting conduit connecting the internal space of the at least one cartridge to the pump. The pump comprises an operating element that can be operated from outside and is connected appropriately to the plunger such that it is suitable for moving the plunger in the pump by hand such that a low pressure can be generated such that the low pressure of the pump can be used to evacuate gas from the internal space of the at least one cartridge through the connecting conduit.
