Acid-treated filter aid blend
A filter aid composition may include a first acid-treated silica-based filter aid having a first particle size distribution and a second acid-treated silica-based filter aid having a second particle size distribution. A method of making a filter aid composition may include providing a first silica-based filter aid having a first particle size distribution, providing a second silica-based filter aid having a second particle size distribution, and blending the first silica-based filter aid with the second silica-based filter aid to form the filter aid composition. A method of filtering a fluid may include providing a filter aid composition including a first acid-treated silica-based filter aid and a second acid-treated silica-based filter aid and filtering the fluid through the filter aid composition. The filter aid composition may have a multimodal particle size distribution such that the first particle size distribution has a d50 greater than the second particle size distribution.
POLYMER MATRIX COMPOSITES COMPRISING FUNCTIONAL PARTICLES AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME
A polymer matrix composite comprising a porous polymeric network; and a plurality of functional particles distributed within the polymeric network structure, and wherein the polymer matrix composite has an air flow resistance at 25 C., as measured by the Air Flow Resistance Test, of less than 300 seconds/50 cm.sup.3/500 micrometers; and wherein the polymer matrix composite has a density of at least 0.3 g/cm.sup.3; and methods for making the same. The polymer matrix composites are useful, for example, as filters.
LITTER COMPOSITIONS
Provided herein are compositions and methods comprising a fragrance and from about 0.5 weight % to about 5.0 weight % of a granular malodor adsorbent which can be used to eliminate malodor in animal waste. The granular malodor absorbent can be granular molecular sieves or granulated activated carbon and has a pore size from about 0.4 nm to about 2.0 nm and a total surface area from about 100 m.sup.2/g to about 1500 m.sup.2/g.

FILTER AIDS
The present disclosure includes compositions and methods for filtering a liquid, e.g., water. The compositions herein may include a filter aid comprising a filter medium and packaging having at least one water-soluble portion. When the filter aid is introduced into the liquid to be filtered, the water-soluble portion(s) may dissolve or otherwise degrade in order to expose the filter medium to the liquid.
HIGH DENSITY PERLITE FILTER AID
The present disclosure includes filter aids comprising expanded perlite and methods for preparation thereof. The perlite used for making the filter aids may be processed by dehydration, expansion, milling, and/or screening. The expanded perlite has a higher density compared to expanded perlite prepared without dehydration.

Sorbents for the oxidation and removal of mercury
A promoted activated carbon sorbent is described that is highly effective for the removal of mercury from flue gas streams. The sorbent comprises a new modified carbon form containing reactive forms of halogen and halides. Optional components may be added to increase reactivity and mercury capacity. These may be added directly with the sorbent, or to the flue gas to enhance sorbent performance and/or mercury capture. Mercury removal efficiencies obtained exceed conventional methods. The sorbent can be regenerated and reused. Sorbent treatment and preparation methods are also described. New methods for in-flight preparation, introduction, and control of the active sorbent into the mercury contaminated gas stream are described.
Replaceable grease containment device, kit and assembly for rooftop or wall-mounted exhaust fan
A grease containment device for an exhaust fan is provided. The device includes an outer housing and an inner housing. The outer housing defines an interior receptacle, a first end surface, and a second end surface opposing the first end surface. The first end surface includes an inlet to the interior receptacle for grease from the exhaust fan, and the second end surface includes a sloped drainage surface leading to at least one drainage opening. The inner housing is located within the interior receptacle and includes a quantity of grease absorbent media in communication with the inlet. The grease absorbent media is hydrophobic, and the inner housing includes a porous portion proximate the sloped drainage surface.
